I had no idea this movie flopped in theaters. I watched this all the time as a kid! My sister and I used to reenact the scene where she gets her foot stuck in that log 😂

I love this movie. I can't believe it flopped at the box office, it's so funny and Phyllis is a good role model, she tries to be a good mother, save her marriage and prove she is willing to take on the responsibility of the troop.

It didn't flop, it made good money. just not the home alone revenue . Why ? Because boys , young boys, older boys won't admit to liking it or wanting to watch it ...

It got panned by critics, like Siskel and Ebert, who didn’t understand the film and therefore told everyone it was bad. Ebert actually got on TV and said he thought it was a bad satire of people in Beverly Hills that focused on being a morality play about Shelley Long’s character … despite the fact that it was supposed to be a satire of the Girl Scouts, not people from Beverly Hills, and Long’s character was the POV character

To be fair to Shelley Long, between six seasons of Cheers and the movie Outrageous Fortune being a hit, her choice to do movies was more logical than David Caruso's or Katharine Heigl's.

Very amusing movie ; I'm quite surprised that there was not a "Troop Beverly Hills 2" . That would have collected a darn good crowd also . All those movie goers that I spoke to , found the movie very funny and true to life . One movie goer also commented on the fact that they could see some of the scenes being quite true . Like the skunk scene . Or the scene with Phyllis coming to the leaders meeting jubilantly wearing the flamboyant cloak . L O L .

It's appalling how tobacco corporations shoved their agenda into '80s and '90s movies, polluting the screens with endless scenes of people puffing away on cigarettes. It's downright disgusting how they targeted kids, making smoking seem cool or rebellious. Watching those movies now makes me want to puke.

This movie stank. I had high hopes for this film but I was discussed by Shelly Longs acting. Furthermore the movie was trash. period. The acting was bellow subpar and contrived. The little girls were dumb, and inappropriate. Such as Shelly Long. There was no good part and no interesting plot. It really pissed me off. And Shelly Longs hair color was terrible. not bad, Terrible and the outfits were discussing. bye.

Nope. Weintraub Entertainment Group is only credited. Columbia Pictures was the theatrical distributor, but when WEG went under Sony acquired the film library and now all the movies are copyrighted to WEG Acquisition Corp. which itself was owned by Sony.

Jerry Weintraub borrowed money from the infamous Crédit Lyonnais Bank and his company went bankrupt and sold a majority of it assets to Sony Pictures Entertainment. Just because you saw a Columbia Pictures logo before a movie doesn't mean they made it. They distributed a lot of films for independent companies (Castle Rock Entertainment, Nelson Entertainment, Carolco Pictures via TriStar and Weintraub Entertainment Group)
