Troopers use PIT maneuver to end chase on Arizona freeway 

I've been a truck driver Almost 50 years, I believe in the Pit Manuver, Even at the cost of the suspects life !! As they don't care about anyone else's life !! Do it quickly and end the pursuit !!

That didn’t look like a chase, it was more like a drive 😂

Same officer who PERFECTLY executed the pit at 2:57 also DODGES the car backing up at 3:03. That is skill.

At 2:15. Why in the world did they let him get back on the freeway? That left turn onto the ramp was the perfect pit opportunity.

What gets me, is police had ample opportunities to pit before got on main thoroughfare, but waited until in traffic.

good job by the cop who was thoughtful enough to hold the traffic back out of the danger zone.

I have an immense amount of respect for our law enforcement but I must say they took forever to get this guy and missed the perfect pit opportunity when he turned left after crossing the overpass to go back in the opposite direction. No traffic, slowest speed of the chase and wouldn't have even interrupted traffic on I17. He just followed him around the corner like they were going for ice cream.

Not all cops can drive like that. Mad respect!

Must have been one of the slowest chases ive seen.

In California they would have 40 cop cars, 5 helicopters following him. In the end they would call off the chase and let him go.

That was pretty dumb to allow him to get back on the freeway when they had a perfect opportunity to do a pit maneuver as the guy was getting on the ramp. But no, they have to clutter up the freeway!

PERFECT opportunity @ 2:15. No traffic, 10 MPH turning the corner, guard rails for containment Nope. Let him get back on the freeway then shut down traffic for an hour. Come on man!

Unnecessary, they have for several miles an empty freeway, and they let him back on the freeway with more traffic behind them?... Doesn't make sense, endanger other motorist.

Another one to add to the "only in America" file, why it takes 5 cops to stop one car. So over the top.

It never ceases to amaze me and annoy me how drivers do not care about an emergency going on, they just want to get to where they are going and everybody be damned. You can tell how when all the patrol cars closed in just before the Pit Maneuver that that one small white car just wanted to pass everybody and had to be actually blocked to keep them back from the scene. We live in a "Me" society that cares Only about themselves. And I believe given half a chance the majority of the other drivers behind would have just skirted around the scene too. Our society is really a selfish one and self centered.

This has got to be a training exercise...

it blows me away how many people think they can successfully outrun the cops in vehicles that come from the factory with 108 mph speed limiters.as where police vehicles speed limiters are around 155 mph.they may not get to 155 mph, but are not limited to 108.its like taking a knife to a gunfight.

If this had occurred in California they would’ve had 17 cop cars a helicopter and a tank for good measures

Why do they follow a vehicle for so long before puting a stop to it? Iv seen them go for hours following a vehicle instead of stopping it immediately before someone else gets hurt or killed.

Totaled their car over nothing... smh. FYI, This is on I-17 between Carefree Hwy and Anthem some 30 miles north of downtown Phoenix.

Every minute the bad guy is rolling down the road is another minute of freedom. I guess that's what they're thinking. He's like "You were behind me? I didn't see you."

Since there was no sound, I had to imagine listening to"Foggy Mountain Breakdown" while watching this.

They had all that open space to pit and waited until got back into traffic!!

Why in the heck didn't they pit the car when they had all the open space with no other cars around? Instead they waited until he went back the other direction then pitted him on the downhill run with lots of vehicles coming. That police department needs another course in PIT manuevers.

This is bad training I'm sorry eliminating the problem as soon as possible did not happen here.

These drivers who create the chase, send them away to work farms. A jail cell is not enough. And this chase was not even so crazy though a clear disregard for the public and it’s safety.

I've never been able to understand why people run from the crops. That type of driving can be very stressful!!!!!

Houston police in my City wouldn't have used this instead of getting into a 100 Mi an hour Chase for 32 minutes they would have saved my wife's life instead but suspect killed my wife at 100 miles an hour

FFs why didnt they do it sooner and on the bridge as he slowed for the corners??? Oh no lets wait till the main road and hold EVERYBODY up. Then none of the coppers wanted to get out and sat there looking at him................

Not sure why the didn't pit when he was on the bridge before he got back on the freeway.

Thay should have done this on the left turn at the on ramp !!!! but instead thay stop traffic on the highway at highway speeds with the possibility of people getting rear-ended. Cop's have a hard job to do ,but waiting to do a pit in more traffic is a poor decision.

Well,, that surely looked like traffic near Phoenix. Yes, interesting chase,,, but note the other vehicles. When confronted by an emergency vehicle,,, the LAW and custom say , move to the right and stop. The guy up on the bridge going the opposite way,, heck facing 12 vehicles with lights flashing , he barely slowed down and likely would have broken the line of emergency flashing lights vehicles,, because BG he has the right of way. Heavy traffic ahead,, no one pulling over,, heavy trafic behind. It was another chase video in Phoenix,,, I loved it,, high speed chase through heavy traffic,, weaving in and out , long chase,, but,,, if you happen to watch the whole thing,, the high speed Corvette being chased is twice passed by other vehicles in the heavy traffic. Twice. Lights and sirens glaring, blaring and some nut in a Corvette being chased through midday traffic at one hundred miles per hour,, and twice he gets passed by private vehicles doing 110. Yep,, that is Phoenix. If you drive Phoenix,, you come to know just how normal that is.
