Troops from Afghanistan and Kuwait arrive everyday at DFW Airport in Dallas Texas for their 14 day R&R. This has taken place everyday for over 7 yaers and will end on March 14, 2012
When I came back from Iraq on R&R, our plane came in to DFW; I will never forget the spontaneous applause we soldiers received from the folks in the terminal. As someone who first joined during the Vietnam War-era, this support was tremendously uplifting. I still get choked up thinkig about it! THANK YOU!
I was working that day at DFW laying floors when this happened. Soon as they got off the plain everyone erupted. I Gotta say.. We were completely surprised as to what was going on. All of our construction crews couldn't produce a dry eye if we wanted too. All of us stop immediately what we were doing to give the respect an gratitude we all felt. (And to think, we were probably bitching about working on our knees all day) And then to watch wives, kids, husbands, an family members hugging an hold them. Was a humbling experience and of deep love I'll never forget.
This is one of the reasons why I love the United States of America, their bravery, their patriotism, the love of their flag and their national anthem. i love you people of america, a lot of kisses from france. Thank you guys

I went through DFW during my R&R from Iraq 2005 to ELP. I sent my wife a ticket for time together in the El Paso area for a week. By accident, I discovered her on my flight to ELP. The carrier bumped me to 1st Class before I mentioned my wife. During the half empty flight, they let her complimentary ride with me as both of us never experienced first class. Mrs didn't know I was on the plane until I had the crew call her forward for a seating conflict. The icing on the cake was it being on our 2d anniversary. Almost 20 yrs later, I won't change a thing.
Incredibly beautiful story. God was surely on that plane. I hope you and your wife are doing well and thank you from the bottom of my heart for your service.
The absolute ONLY reason we Americans enjoy and LIVE our freedoms is because of not only patriots for the last 230 years, but because of these heroes. Thats why. Period. We need to appreciate them and show gratitude beyond when they are in harms way. THANK YOU - as a USAF Veteran. Thank you.
welcome fellow U.S. citizen. I have a friend who became a U.S. citizen after leaving the Congo. His excitement after taking the oath was nearly uncontrollable. He had a smile that didn't disappear for days.
I'm so proud of this people stepping in and watching this most of all our American soldiers watching out for us that live in America thank God I have them on my side
I thank God I made it back home after 3 deployments and for the ones I lost... I hope God comforts you in some way. Though I am no longer in the fight, thank you for caryying the torch and keeping it lit. I thank you. Salute. An unbreakable bond and brotherhood.
I've said this before but it bears repeating. Thank God for Texas!!! Proud to call Dallas home! More of us veteran's and serving troops than just about anywhere!
I never been a military man but my heart goes to all men & women in uniform in whatever country they came from...they have sacrificed their lives so that others may live in peace... I pray that one day soon, there will be no more wars...
I had an international traveler at BWI airport in Maryland make a similar comment to me when he and his wife were moving through the airport and stopped to see what the commotion was about. I made a comment earlier about it. He and his wife were moved by those who took the time to welcome our troops. Thank you for a nice comment.
