Tropic Thunder (2008) First Time Watching! | MOVIE REACTION 

Nobody was upset about RDJ when this movie came out. I am black and every other black person I know LOVED that role and thought his impression was very funny. It is very obvious he wasn't making fun of us and was making fun of actors who take themselves too seriously. It always makes me laugh when RDL says for 400 years that word has kept us down 🤣😂

Him purposely hopping over the little fire for dramatic effect may be my favorite gag, it's so perfect for what that character would do, lol. This film is a gem.

Jeff Portnoy, when he's tied to the tree, describing what he'll do to Alpa Chino, is one of the funniest, yet grossest things uttered in film history. It's definitely one of my favorite parts to see people react to in this film, that, and the kid throw. Anyways, I really enjoy your channel, 😊.

In my experience, the people who recognize Tom Cruise from the very beginning generally do so because of his voice. In addition, people from Gen X who first saw him in theaters in the 1980s seem to have an advantage and notice him more quickly than others.

Now, watch Ben Stiller again in Dodgeball True Underdog Story. Another awesome movie of him.

So the symbolism of this movie is to show you what it's like in the movie industry...but this is but a taste of anything we could ever imagine that truly goes on behind the scenes..and that's an understatement. There actually is a funny movie where everyone's playing someone they're not. It's called Jumanji: The Next Level. Jack Black is in that movie as well.

Hello Marion & Joy!😊 You guys just went to the front of the line with one of my favorite comedies!😆🏆 That was "Lance Bass" in the audience from "In Sync" at the end. There were actually no protests over Robert Downey Jr. being in black face when this came out. There were organizations that protested Ben Stiller as the "Simple Jack" character.😉 This is the opposite of what the film makers expected. Great reactions to this very fun film, Guys!!!!🎬👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 P.S. - The fat suit was Tom Cruise's idea.

Yeah the guy made the right call on "I'm a rooster illusion." It would take many minutes to psychiatrist that. When I first watched this, I barely made it through it. I thought it was too outrageous and ridiculous, but it's grown on me over time.

At the beginning they were doing a parody of platoon and apocalypse now. I'm sure there were others as well, but more obscure than the first two.

Best comedy movie ever!

When this film was released, it was made knowing that the majority of the audience would've seen the original Viet Nam war films from which this parodies, including getting the Viet Nam war movie clichés. As time goes on, younger, newer audiences may not be so familiar, in addition the the Hollywood "business" stereotypes and tropes. This would, of course be added to the unfamiliarity of the, then, contemporary references: TiVo, Lance Bass, ect. Add to this, worst of all, is not-immediate understanding that the faux trailers at the beginning really only would work when this movie was initially watched in the theaters in 2008. That is, of course, if they understand what they are at all. Saw this in the theater, of all of the comedies I ever saw, this had one of the best audience responses, topped only by the _Jackass_ movies.

The dude playing the author with (fake) no hands is Nick Nolte. He starred with Eddie Murphy in the movie 48 Hours - worth a review.

I rewatched the movie Bowfinger the other night and I think you guys would really like it. It's with Eddie Murphy and Steve Martin, and I think it's one of Eddie Murphy's funniest movies. It's definitely not as well known as it should be.

They actually kept the Tom Cruise thing a secret, most people didn't recognize him till the credits. I remember an audible gasp in the theater when the credits rolled as people were realizing it was him.

I didn't recognize him till my wife told me after seeing it for the 11th time. lol. Last movie I saw Tom Cruise in was "Mrs Doubtfire" Or was it "Independence Day"? Im bad with actors. Every actor's name is the same for me. " That guy from that movie with the train that went to the North Pole" Or "That chick in that one movie where she stabbed that dude's eye with the heel of her shoe." lol

If you haven't seen "Platoon" yet, you should watch it. "Tropic Thunder" borrows from a few Vietnam War films.

I'm a comic book fan (Marvel, DC, Image, etc), and a huge Batman fan. I know I'm going to get hate for this, but I think the Oscar should have went to Robert Downey jr instead of Heath Ledger. Before anyone comes at me, remember, Ledger played a great psychopath, but he did not play any comic book Joker. Even in Nolan's world of realism, they still could have made a more "Jokerish."

As a "Black" Man RDJ's portrayal isn't offensive because it's not degrading. It shows how Hollywood depends on stereotypes instead of authenticity.

These two are so naive of the kind of humor they are watching. Basically they saw a movie and didnt get it.

Who was mad? This movie came out in 2008 when Gen Z were small kids and had no say.in anything. The Woke stuff gradualy started after 2013. Nobody was mad when this came out in 2008. I think it won a lot of awards too and was a huge hit.

Pretty much everyone had the same reaction when seeing this in theaters. It took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out that the trailers in the beginning were part of the movie. We were confused as Hell, it was really well done. I don't really remember anyone getting upset about the blackface bit when this came out. RDJ was actually nominated for an Oscar for this. He also did the DVD commentary in-character.

It's my guilty pleasure movie but it would be nice it they react to the Secret Life of Walter Mity also starring Ben Stiller.
