I remember that I was camping in my trampoline with my best friend and in the morning I saw a yellow thing on my feet and my best friend trapped it it was a budgie and I was just happy because I had 2 others and I was so so so happy😊

@@sprucebadger8229 i can say that they travel max 10miles in a few days/week. I see it all the time. They are almost all the time within 3-5miles when they are tiny. The bigger ones like the ara is in that 10mile range

Yeah, but the previous owner didn't make much effort to get him back if they announced it on FB groups and left him to Humane soceity for 2 weeks. I got my first cat in a similar way, I put up signs, I called it in to the police and waited for months to hear anything before I said, "she's mine now"

I have a conure and I havey place so secure as I don't clip his wings. That bird is lucky to be alive as they are not outdoor birds in our climate. If I lost mine, omg my life would not be the same

Big beautiful flocks of them feeding on the native grasslands early every morning. A wonderful sight to see, but not in the tropics, and i've lived in all three states of Australia with tropics. You might occassionally see them in cleared coastal regions heading up towards Cape York, but without human habitation they wouldn't be there as they are a grassland/ woodland bird, and not in flocks of thousands, tens of thousands like you do around Uluru.

How much people time should they have a day? Like, to be happy and bond. I work a lot but have always wanted to home a few of these. I know I can't do bigger bigger birds; but might have space for 2 or 3 of these guys.

So true! I have horses, and have been researching birds for years. I eventually want to have one, but I want to give the one I have the highest quality life (which requires research) If people did this before owning any animal (dog, cat, bird, horse) there would be less animals in need of shelters.

I know in my heart that the domesticated budgerigar is so intelligent that yours found its way to a good human!! Animals know to get help when in trouble or hungry! Our very first budgie girl was caught by hand by my husband after she appeared by our feet while we were out feeding fish bread crumbs off of a pier!! Amongst sparrow and zebra doves that were around us to collect fallen crumbs, she really stood out in her white wings and apple green and yellow feathers! He just crouched down and she ate some bread crumbs from his hand and with the other he gently but swiftly grabbed her!!! She is home with us for almost two years now along with a companion new baby blue boy budgie who are just perfect together! I know your baby is in a safe and warm loving home too🥰

I'm in Kuwait now. Most of the bird owners let their birds fly off and return. I don't know about the small ones but I've seen bigger ones leave the flat come back later in the day.

@@c_syd but isn’t there tropical parts in Australia I was always under the impression that birds from Australia are dry dander production birds as opposed to my macaws who are from rain forests and have oil to keep there feathers water prof mine will go nuts to go play in the rain he loves a shower in the neighbourhood trees I posted him doing it last week it turned into a crow chase with some epic flying on my macaws part if you like birds go see, if u like what I post give us a subscription but only if you actually like no subs for pity on my small following of 300 ppl last time I looked 😂

similar thing happened to me too when I was a kid,I got a parrot near my window and one day a tropical bird came inside our house ,we decided to keep him because we don't know where his owner is ,the same day we bought a cage for him,he stayed at our house for 2 days then LEFT 🤣 he was so smart that he knows how to open the cage,he didn't want to become our family he just came to visit 😅

I do too but how do you keep the house clean? Wouldn't he poop just anywhere?

I upgraded the cage my 2 lil guys to a larger one that splits open on top for perching and in front. They never wanted to come out. One has passed away recently so I have one lonely guy that I have to force to come out and play in front of a tablet with RU-vid bird videos. And he won't let me hold him either 😢

It might be time to think about getting him a new friend.

he should be supervised when outside of the cage anyway so youd have to keep tabs on the poop and clean it, thankfully for budgies its not hard at all to clean@@0thyme

Birds can be kept alone since it's gonna see it's partner as part of his flock. Aslong theres somebody at home to keep the bird company. The reason it's fixed on the mirror is because it "sees a bird" doesn't mean anything.

@@Prislistrations That's not even remotely true. Educate yourself before you make comments like this. Birds are one of the most social animals on the entire planet and while some birds do fine solo, most parrots do not. In the case of budgies, you should always have two. You also need to remember that birds are extremely hormonal by nature and cannot be fixed, so their social needs are even further elevated.

⁠@@karmalotto8587 growing up, I had 2 budgies…one was very friendly, easy to train, learned to love & trust people, etc. And the other…he was a complete jerk, lol. I treated him well, spent a lot of time trying to train or “domesticate” him if you will, but he just never showed much fondness for people or even the other bird (a female). It was pretty sad to me because I wanted to give the other bird a partner, but he’d always either ignore her or try to aggressively peck at her (which she obviously hated, she’d always fly off). Do you think it’s possible for some birds to just never get along with others, or something I was doing wrong? Even as an adult now, I think back sometimes & wonder why I couldn’t ever figure him out. 😢

Not true, I lost my bird. Looked exactly like this one, looked for over a year but never had any luck. Very used to human contact as well, but could never learn the call back phrase. If my burd was found by a loving person tho, that's all I care about.
