Loving the videos!! Keep making them please. Amazing to hear about older trees that survived like the starfruit. I just got Mexican cream guava this year and I’m excited to see it grow
Will do, Yhanks for the kind words...I'll get better as I go along. These first videos are kind test videos, I will redo some and add more detail. The goal is to make each Video at least 15 minutes, and load them up with details!
I have 3 of what looks like an identical guava from Lowes I got this spring as 1gallon pots. Getting lots of growth on them here in central Florida and I'm glad to see the same tree doing well in the same zone. Can't wait for fruit!
I think that’s where I got that variety, it’s called Mexican cream. Seems to be a lil more hardy than most. Best planted up against house for winter protection
2 of them are about 15 feet out from the house in full sun (I'm saving that precious house real estate for the more sensitive stuff like my jackfruit), the last one is on the southwest wall of my chicken coop and gets sun from midday til dusk
Hey, I was curious how often do your Guava plants thin out already pollinated buds? We been having some extreme temperatures and im unsure if this is from that or natural in a first time flowering Tropical Pink
Thank you so much for this video. I am in zone 9b in Scotts Valley, CA (above the marine fog line of Santa Cruz). I am curious if you have any tips on pruning young guavas. I got mine this year and they are essentially just vertical stalks with little side shoots.
I have a red that appeared to be dead all the way to the base 1” of the trunk after frost season and now it decided to start to leaf out! (Probably 2nd leaf). That little thing is amazing and wants to live!
Thank you for the video! What month do you recommend to prune the tree and how to do so to avoid cutting the (what would be) fruiting branch, please? Thank you
Thanks! I'm curious to know how mine will do with high summer temps without shade. I'm also in Zone 9b but in the low desert area of Southern California
Good question! They should do fine though they will get knocked down hard below 25f, I had one survive 18f in 1990 and grow back from roots and fruit the next year!
We have a guava tree at home too. We are here in Woodland CA, zone 9b as well. I wanted to know when did the guava tree you have started bearing fruits, after how many years. We planted ours two years ago.
No, I dont sell anything. Im just a home gardener with a youtube channel. Guavas generally come true to seed, I have a lot of seed, I may do a free seed give away in a couple months.
