I am 36 years old and have this, but it's only triggered by doing anything that requires a repetitive grip with movement of my wrist, like mixing food in a bowl. That action will ALWAYS set it off, while others, such as holding a pen, drawing or holding something for too long will cause my fingers (on both hands) to go numb and my grip feels very weak, but this won't happen unless the motion and grip is sustained over a longer period of time. It does NOT happen if I am not doing a sustained grip with repetitive hand motion. I have had bloodwork done recently which didn't show much up other than some hormone issues which the GP said was PCOS, but I do not have enough symptoms for that, so I don't think it's that, I think it's perimenopause/early menopause as I have had far more symptoms of that, and my last ultrasound I had which discovered my copper IUD had slipped and needed to come out, showed no other issues. Apparently menopause can cause muscle and joint problems. Also, it's possibly carpal tunnel from YEARS of high intensity 'mouse and keyboard' computer gaming and holding computer mice. However mine is most certainly carpopedal spasm, not carpal tunnel hand, which makes your hand look like a monster paw when it goes into spasm. I have done anything involving vibrating tools or repetitive hand use other than this. I also had an attack of the same thing in my right foot once or twice!. My other medical condition is a 'wear and tear' disc bulge in my lower L5/S1 spinal disc which protrudes to the right. This is likely because I was obese for many years, however I have lost a LOT of weight over these past few months. As soon as I was told about my disc bulge, I got right onto it, more exercise, healthy diet, and I feel so much better. My spinal surgeon told me this won't cause upper body problems though. It may have been responsible for the spasms in my right foot, but not my arms. I also have Autism and high anxiety, and am a long time cannabis user with a history of over the counter codeine addiction a few years back now. I am still on 2.8mg of buprenorphine, down from 8mg, and reducing to the end now I am ready. There are genetic spinal disorders in my family going right back to my late grandfather on my mum's side, all the way through, my aunt and uncle have both had major spinal surgery and my mum has something similar to me but has never been anything close to obese, in fact I think she is underweight for her height. I frequently wake up with numb hands too. It's gotten worse lately, and I have not been able to see my GP. All they want to do is diagnose me with carpal tunnel over the telephone with no exam, which I refuse to accept anymore, as you can't diagnose something like this over the telephone, it requires a complex process of tests and elimination of other possible conditions. I am also up to date with my tetanus boosters and all other vaccinations. Sorry this is so long, but I just wanted to put it out there to see what I get back from others. Thank you x

I had Trousseau’s sign without the Blood Pressure cuff on. I also felt like there was an electrical current running through my body.mi had to go to ER. My calcium level was 6.1 secondary to hypoparathyroidism following a total Thyroidectomy!

Many thanks for this video. I'd like to just add about pseudohypoparathyroidism, which is important to be aware of. This is a condition with end organ resistance to the effects of PTH. These patients have elevated PTH levels and do not respond to injected PTH. They are moon faced, short statured and have low IQ and have short 4th and 5th metacarpals. Patients who look like this but without the hypocalcaemia are given the term pseudopseudohypoparathyroidism.
