I just wanted to say that I really enjoy your videos and have found them super helpful. Recently purchased an unbroken 3 year old Arab x to bring on myself. I like my horses lazy and a little dull and I let myself be talked into buying her. Lordy I thought I had made a huge mistake, she was spooky, reactive and did not know how to slow her feet while just out on a walk on the ground. I can not pretend to have the riding skill needed to break in and ride that kind of horse. So I have relied on your videos and a few others to do most of it from the ground. I have kept her at a walk for a month now under saddle while building the relaxed walk, stop and back up. Today I finally felt ready for our first trot and I could not have been happier. She trotted 6 or so relaxed steps on a loose rein before dropping straight back to a walk easily. Unlike you though i think we are more than a month away from starting to canter :)

I have had quarter horses for the past 50 years. When I was 14, I had an Arab. I loved him. Saber is one of my favorites of your horses. He has personality plus. He has a great active mind. Once he has some more miles and training, he is going to be such fun and a good boy. I would think the more a person did with him, the happier he will be. There is something about him. ❤

So many trainers won't show training Arabs because they can't. Thanks for showing this. My Arab was a heck of a cow horse and a good endurance horse. Still miss her.

I feel like the biggest challenge with this breed is their inate way of going. They are bred to move as effortlessly as possible so they can go long distances with less exertion. Nose up and out, hind end out they can go and go and go... Teaching them to go any other way is almost always met with speed used as a "weapon" lol. Challenging breed. Smart, sensitive horses. They have big hearts 💕

My 24 year old Arab gelding looks and behaves a lot like Saber. Not an easy horse, but kind and trustworthy. I’ve ridden him more miles solo than any horse I’ve every had. So dang smart. I notice you’re not riding with spurs. I’ve never found them helpful with my Arab.

I’ve notices that my Arabs it is not necessary to use spurs. One mare will get so pissed. It’s not disrespectful nor get her way it’s for lack of a better word telling me that it is not necessary and I don’t need the extreme to get her to do what I want. I’ve had a couple I could but just bumper spurs and they did fine. The spurs he wears in other videos are a no go. So if I can get it done faster and better without them so be it.

In all my experiences with Arabians teaching them self control is the hardest cuz there is so much heat but once they get it it can be a real light bulb moment..and they then really appreciate and look for it cuz it helps thier mind..THAT is when the brain really kicks into overdrive wanting to learn..once you get one there..there is nothing like them..alot of people don't like Arabians cuz they are not taught,shown that they can control it..but alot of people won't spend the time to do what you are doing cuz they think Arabians are super hot and sensitive and that's just it ..

Gorgeous horse, he is clearly has a lively mind as well as body - I don't think he'll find learning whatever he needs to learn, to be too difficult.

this is a real good and coherent correction, you can see HOW TO DO and not just the result. No many of the trainers show you these pictures, because all want to look pretty ;-) this is honest, fair and calm work, thank you sooo much for all of your videos I wish we had such good trainers in Germany.. I laughed when you said high energy and thoroughbreds are like that too…not if you saw my 3 ottbs. However then I realised that I spend a huge amount of time teaching them to calm down and relax, when they first come to me. Love your work and how you make me think outside the box and see how these horses should work correctly as apposed to just accepting that’s the way they are.

He's looking fantastic. You can really see his gears turning at the end after those cows kicked up a little bit. He likes the bit without a noseband.

That’s how Arabs and Morgans and many other breeds carry their head. I get nervous on a quarter horse with nothing in front of with their head down so low lol. All what you are used to.

Tim yes they won’t pull if we don’t pull . Saber looks stiff why not bend and counter bend while doing transitions and also half halting? Wouldn’t this soften him? I learned this from a Grand Prix dressage rider and used this on the Oldenburg gelding I bought as a yearling . He had a motor though not super sensitive with leg pressure . He was my heart horse !!!

At this point that would be too much input to an already very sensitive and wiggly horse. It would be too much too quick but it will come.

Curious about his mouth activity & mild foaming; what caused that during that session? Did it have to do with the bit during that ride, or being on the bit more, or with his efforts to raise and lower his energy as you asked, or? Ignorant here, just asking to learn :)

Just wondering about the comment to have your hands up...guessing because you are teaching the horse to rate her own speed and meet the head where it is held by the horse? My green OTTB has that naturally high head carriage...I use a running martingale so she at least doesn't get her head to far up or to a rear. She has a ton of spirit with rear and buck in the field and her go-to is up at play. Great brain on her though, really has that try to figure it out as long as I stay soft and use seat to correct the head throw and jigging.
