I'm from London, England and I LOVE GO-GO!! Trouble Funk and Chuck Brown especially have a big place in my heart. Caught Trouble Funk last week in London on the 35th anniversary tour and they laid down a groove that would not be denied! Danced my funky ass off! Feeling low? Get some go-go on the decks and just get happy!
Again, when the great British producer Trevor Horn went and got the Trouble Funk percussionists to play on Slave To The Rhythm by Grace Jones....we knew....lol
9:30 Club was twenty minutes from my house. One of the greatest, most eclectic, forums for music. I saw everything from Funk to Henry Rollins, Chuck Brown to the Dead Kennedy's. Misting up thinking about all the shows, the range of emotions, the level of energy.
Not here to argue or dispute your comment. I believe they are the smartest of the Go-Go bands from the Washington DC area. They actually took Go-Go internationally. They are the most sampled Go-Go band, whose songs have been sampled by Kurtis Blow, Dougie Fresh, LL Cool J, and many others. The route they chose to take made the most sense (monetarily) for them. Who else is playing Go-Go music in Japan and England and other places around the globe? I love it!

We threw down to this when I was 17 or so. Love the chords from 7:34-8:40 (gone girl!). Lessons from this video: 1) Age shouldn't stop anybody from throwing down. 2) Excess weight shouldn't stop anybody from throwing down. 3) The fact that the current 15-30 yr-old crowd isn't throwing down, shouldn't stop anybody from throwing down.

Hmmm. 9:30 club. I saw SO many shows there. This was one of my favorites...Born in DC, Lived in Silver Spring...Moved to Philly in '91 after UMCP College Park (PG county YO!!!!) I miss this and Love you for posting it!!! I saw them there a few times! Happy tears!!!!
