Trouble in Thailand - ฿30,000 Jet ski Scam 

The scammers in this video contacted me to stop this video, please like and share and show them this video isnt going anywhere. Please help me find the Russian dudes in the video, make this video Viral where his from!!

I was gonna rent a jet ski there but now I’m like Phuket.

People like him are crying now, because tourists don't go anymore to Thailand. Thanks man, I will never rent an jetski in Thailand.

This scammer has been going on for many years. My mate got scammed for $5000 back in 2010. Almost 9 years ago. I did not go Thailand ever since.

A similar story happened to me. On December 13, 2018, my friend and I rented a jet ski on the Patong beach. After riding, the owner of the jet ski demanded 30,000 baht for fake damage. I called the tourist police, but the police turned out to be corrupt. The police said that if I didn't pay, they would take me to the police station. In the end, I managed to bring down the price to 15,000 baht. PS I recognized the Thai guys in this video! scammers

these Russians are actually chill people, they guy in pink was being cool the whole time and respectful till the scammers got aggressive.

We fell for the same scam over 10 years ago in Thailand. They were asking for $600 for damage we didn’t make. It was quite a story, my husband almost went in to fight with one of those guys. We went to hotel, they followed us all the way.. and called the police. Police took my husband’s passport & said we’ll return it after you pay money to them. All I can say, police work with them and share their profit! We went to police station that was right, almost across from jet ski place (it was in Pattaya). I talked police offices down to $300, after long negotiations. But, I could see in his eyes, these dudes work together!! What a rotten, scambag culture. Maybe it’s a bit different now, but it put me off wanting to ever go back to this scam country.. If my husband would have fought that local, he’d be the one ending up in prison. Thanks to some tourist passer, who intervened in time, didn’t allow this to happen! There is no protections for tourists in this country. Do not fell for this crap!!

When a Russian say "If I call my father he will kill everyone on the beach" in a Russian accent ..you better not show up on that beach ever!

On my last trip in turkey we rented a quad and booked a tour. I literally broke the axis while trying to drift and all they've done was saying that my behavior was dangerous in this kind of place (surroundings (like cliffs and stuff)) and giving me their own quad for the rest of the tour. Niiiiice people there

Btw, some of them used water paint in some area, which it come off easily when mixing with water while riding jetski. Be careful

I have lived in Thailand for 9 years and Phuket for 4 years and work in Patong on Bangla road, these guys are actually referred to as the "jet ski mafia" A word of advice from a local expat.. never..ever..ever..rent a jet ski, and anything you do rent always document the condition of the rental before you drive/ride off.. video or picture evidence goes a long ways with the police if they are called..

As someone who lives in Cambodia: Police in this part of the world require a different approach. When they say they are calling "the police" they mean *their* police who are already in on it. That does *not* mean that you have no recourse. The key is to find other police who aren't in on it, usually the dedicated "tourist police" are good for this. As soon as the cop who is getting paid realizes he's about to be outed to his colleagues who weren't getting their cut, he will disappear and the scam will be over.

I like how they seem to be totally aware of these scams being talked about and showed online and that it is damaging the country's image, and then continues to perform the scam and most likely on a daily basis complains about less tourists/customers visiting the place

I was over there and the same thing happened to my mate. The police were in on the scam and had to pay $1000 for a small scratch. Couldn't do anything because there was like 20 of them surrounding us and followed us for a whole day

I was on this beach 4 years ago, and they tried to say I broke his foot when I got off the ski, the police came and wanted 4000 American, I gave the police 230 dollars and they locked the guy up and let me go

Lived in Thailand for nearly 10 years; this "damage" would only cost (at the most) 4-6,000 baht.... what a scam, thanks for posting; Yeah the beaches are beautiful, especially if you go down Jomtien Beach Road (go deep past soi 10 basically, calm and much less chaotic than some spots).

In this case, call the Thai tourist police (1155). Do not call the regular police, because they are usually involved in this type of scam as well.

They use toothpaste to cover damage, and when you go for a ride, it peals of. Why would you rent from a person with a criminal attitude?

I also faced scam in Thailand, the hotel I stayed took money from my security deposit and telling that I broke the chair although it was broken earlier. All staffs are rude. Not suggest anyone to go to Thailand. Even people are also not helpful and kind to you if you are not from Europe.

Real brave of you for filming it ! These things can go real wrong when Thai mafia gets pushed like that . And for the damage, it was an old damage , and it will not be repaired so it can be used at the next rental.

After seeing this, I’ll be afraid to rent any type of water sports from there. In fact, I won’t when I can do that shit here in California. Very scary 😧

Before every ride you usually are given a small insurance certificate to sign which covers a percentage of the damage. Always call the tourist police or avoid riding jet skis at all.

I dented one in Italy in "Lago di Garda" and thought I would pay around € 1000. Guess what the agency told me? "Tutto coperto di assicurazione" meaning "All is covered by insurance" and I was off on my way in five minutes and they never seemed to bother. That's why I suggest you go to a legal agent even if you'll pay some more, you'll avoid drama, time wastage and above all blood thirsty scammers.

I had this in koh larn with 1 of my son's who's mother just happened to be Thai, they thought she was Chinese, really messed their heads up . We called the police and I told the police to arrest me coz I wasn't gonna pay 30,000 baht . Then my wife decided she wanted to fight them . They changed their tune . We got away with 3000 baht in the end . And even the policeman asked why they do this to tourists . In the end wife took the money to the workshop with the police and gave it to the mechanic , that really pissed them off . So we got on our boat and went back to pattaya . I've never been back since to koh larn and will never hire a jet ski in thailand . Their loss not mine

thank you for posting this video.... iam watching this video because iam researching a place in asia to visit with family and was highly recomended to go to thailand by a co-worker, but seeing this video iam not pleased. so we decided to make a trip to phillippines instead. its not just this scam that turned me down theres more in bangkok iam not gonna mentioned. sorry thailand untill you fix your scammers you gonna loose a lot of tourist trust and every tourist will go somewhere else.

Nasty little scamming pricks! I hope they lose all their business. this is a very helpful video to stop people hiring these jet skis and getting ripped off! I would never hire a jet ski after watching this. They repay the tourists who contribute to their economy and business massively by ripping them off, nice people they are, great video.

Scammers , beware in Phuket, Pattaya , rent the jetski / can call the tourist police and take a photo before you rent a jetski.
