Welcome to My Bench Jeweler. Today we're looking at Part 3 of how to Troubleshoot, clean and oil your Cuckoo clock. This video is a bid long so it's in two parts. Cuckoo Clocks can be a bit intimidating but I think this video will provide all you need to be successful in tackling the cleaning and oiling.

Thank you for making your video. On a three-way cuckoo clock do I need to lubricate the internal chain that works the carousel? On mine it's kind of Hit and Miss whether the music plays. I did go ahead and lubricate the music mechanism and it seems to play better when it does play.

I really enjoy seeing your repairs here on YT, I was wondering if you could do a repair or service on a Mayak Russian Cuckoo clock at some point in time. A total strip down and oiling would be useful, along with your verdict on just how good or bad Russian movements are. I have one of these and although the cuckoo half of the movement seems to be OK, The clock stops ticking after about 30 seconds to a minute and the pendulum comes to rest. No sign of dirt, so I guess something is worn out

I have plans to video one or two cuckoo clocks in the near future. We pretty much run a small school on Jeweler Making and Manufacturing Jewelry tools so we really don't receive much walk-in trade anymore. Thanks for watching The Bench Jeweler.

Can the chains be replaced? Mine are corroded & don't seem to roll through the cogs smoothly.

Yes, the chains can be replaced depending on the cuckoo clock model number on the back of the movement. Many movements are Regula followed by a number which tells me what chain to use. If it's an odd-ball movement you may have to remove two inches of the chain so it can be matched to a template drawing. The Bench Jeweler. www.mybenchjeweler.com or rhjgold@gmail.com

Can you use 3 in 1 oil on a coo coo clock

Do not use 3&1 oil it's not suited for clock oil it is more of cutting oil and may destroy your cuckoo clock. You can buy Red Dragon Clock oil on our website which is the best oil one can use. The Bench Jeweler

Use an ultrasonic cleaning tank, works better.

Well, You need the cost of a tank larger enough to put a full-size clock into the tank, and then there's the matter of clock cleaning fluid at 75.00 dollars a gal and clock rinse at 60.00 plus the cost of the ultrasonic tank at about 350.00!.

Is your mom's clock a cuckoo clock? If you don't feel your ability to clean and oil your clock with the kits I provide you might look for a clock repair shop. We still service clocks but shipping it to us and having it repaired and return shipping is costly. Thanks The Bench Jeweler
