Troubleshooting my Hunter X-Core sprinkler zone controller. The LCD is showing random stuff and nothing works. Took everything apart to see if we could salvage it. Ended up picking up a basic Orbit 4-zone controller which was much easier to install and use.

Hi thanx i asked God for guidance and getting tips from your video i managed to get mine working again Praise God! So like you i cleaned all the contacts with electrical cleaner. I then added a piece of cardboard between the cover and lcd then the last step was to resolder the processors legs to board. And its working again

the one that fail is very possible caused by the leaking issue and short the capacitors, which caused the leaking issue of those capacitors. if you replace those bad capacitors, it can possible bring it back to life. the lcd display is possible caused by contact issue or instable voltage issue. need to clean with IPA

since you were selling the house it would have been cheaper and faster to buy an inexpensive timer and replace it.. a six zone x core indoor timer is less than one hundred dollars. a sprinkler technician doesnt have time to repair a timer.... out with the old and in with the new

I just moved to greenville sc, and am wondering how to winterize or simply shut down my Hunter x core underground lawn sprinkler . I have a BIB valve in the garage and also a water controller at the edge of the yard. I was thinking that all I need to do is cut of the BIB valve in the garage. OR do I need to also cut off the water supply at the yard? Also is there a need to run any of the zones in the yard ( I have 6 zones on .30 acre) Thank you for any details.

In FL we have the expansion valve that loops above ground. Usually there is a shutoff valve there. I cut that off in winter and open the port to drain the above ground loop. Anything buried should be fine as long as you release the water pressure after closing water bib. Running your zones is up to you on how green you need your grass.

@@TunerwithKids Yes, my bib is in the garage so I guess i only turn it off there (and not the lower area of the yard where the water plate is underground as well? ) Secondly I was referring to if I need to also run the zones to bleed out the water in the underground pipes too ..thank you

Why does the program repeats the watering time over and over after it completes the the cycle

IDK, it should only go a cycle each time, check settings for the B or C schedule.

Unit is broken. Just buy new. I tried all I could to troubleshoot but couldn’t revive it.

@@TunerwithKids most probably the reason for that is a failed crystal oscillator, this board uses a 32.7 crystal oscillator, try replacing it, i hope this could fix it.
