I had a similar issue where my rx8 wouldnt make any more power if i pushed the pedal further than halfway. Ran and drove normally as long as i didnt go full throttle though. I tried a ton of things and then eventually came to this and it was very helpful. Ended up getting a map sensor off a mazda 6 or millenia or something for free from pick n pull and my rx8 is back in action

My Rx8 did the EXACT thing you are talking about in this video. I think mine might be intermittent tho, i went thru the same steps you did, cleaned out the filter, MAF, checked my intake lines etc. Still kicked a little bit, same issues after all that. Then one day, i go to take it to work....i start it up, let it warm up, engine chokes once a little bit but doesnt die, runs perfect after that. ????? then i stumble on this video, im excited to go check this out and see if it works! I'll keep everyone posted!

You seem to be pretty knowledgeable on these rotaries. I have been having a problem with mine. I keep getting a boggy sound around 4k rpms. It then clears out and I get misfire. I’ve replaced all ignition parts. I’m stuck and don’t wanna keep throwing money at it.

Hi! Can you tell me how your car runs with the baro sensor disconnected? I disconnected mine because I'm having similar problems with my rx8 but my car shuts off immediately after disconnecting the baro sensor. Thanks!

I wonder if I'm having g the same problem my rx8 starts stalling after I get off the highway. But its fine when I'm driving on normal roads

Holy shit I hope this is all my problems are with the RX8 I just picked up haha!!! We went through the SAME tests. It did need 2 new coils, and all spark plugs. That was not a problem at all to get done. new air filter as well. Last owner beat the car up on gravel roads. When I came across this video.... I got really excited... So when I get a boost later today (battery is dead LOL) I'm going to see if unplugging it makes a difference. My RX8 backfires big time at lower rpm (4k and below). and doesn't like to stay running, and the rpms also jump like a spazzy bunny when I try to keep the idle around 3k.... I really hope this is it for now. I do think a rebuild may need to be considered.

Maybe it's because your engine bay looks like a garden, there's mods growing on your battery terminals

Diagnostik show misfire 2cylinder do you know how to fix?

i have the same problem on my rx8. Would not pass 5-6k rpm. But it does stay on when i move away my foot from the pedal. Could be the same problems with coils,plugs,sensors and filters ?

I have a question my RX8 when I drive it for a few minutes and get to stop sing I press the brake and my RX8 turn off. Can someone please tell me what can be the problem.

Dude you need to realign your fuel pump, pictures at 7:08 the small arrow on the top of the pump assembly should be pointing toward the front of the car.

Pretty sure this solved my problem, we will see next week

Would love to hear your advice with my current rx8 issue. Car was running great had new plugs coils wires. However had a small coolent leak from resivor. Forgot to put cap on radiator after adding coolent one day. Drove a few miles and car overheated. I noticed turned it off. It seemed ok after cooling off . Three days later no start. Seems like coils so I replaced them but didn't help. When it overheated is when problem started. I think.. what would be your best guess be?

I got a question. I just got a mazda rx8. It has 62000 miles. I just started to experience power loss when I drive it. When I put the paddle to the metal it does not accelerate as it did when I got it. My dad thinks it is the fuel pump. Should I just take it to a dealership? I do not want to destroy the car thinking I know what to do.

Ive been having the exact same problems i am going to try this my 8 is at the mazda dealership right now and they still haven't figured out the problem. Ive replaced spark plugs wires and coils the thermostat catalytic converter both upstream and downstream o2 sensors on my own it will run good driving about an hour or 2 but after that it will lose power and whenever i come to a stop it will stall and i have to wait like 10 minutes to crank it over and start again

Hey, today I was driving my Rx8 and i try to redline it,but when I press accelerator pedal to the ground it automatically shift at 6 rpm, is it normal?? Second I was out of fuel when I go to fuel station then I use an empty bottle of water of about 1.5 liters to put some gas ⛽️ and put it on my car, it start well I drive it to gas station and put more gas on it, I continue drive it then the car turn off after 2 minutes when I was on my way home... I let it idle for some minute, then I turn it on, it’s works after trying more than 2 times, when it work it start misfire, although I get home safe with it, so what cause engine to misfire?

Problem sounds like a bad Mass Flow Sensor. Bad sensor signal would cause exactly the problems described. Holy crap that air filter, wtf. How long has that been in there? Should probably replace that nasty thing. Good find, though. RX8club is great.

Was the issue intermittent? And did it start rapidly or gradually worsen over time?

Hey mate, my rx8 drives fine cold, but as soon as it heats up and I try push the rpm above 5000 it makes a strange noise and has reduced power, I unplugged the barometric sensor and ill be driving it tomorrow. ill let you know how it goes. I've been chasing this problem for a while now, and it keeps on getting worse and worse. I've changed spark plugs, fuel pump and had my fuel injectors tested and checked spark from coils and they are all fine. I'm hoping its not a compression problem.

do have any video about change spark plugs? I have a similar problem, except it idle at 500rpm inside of 1000rpm. I have to press the pedal twice as hard then normal.

you dont think its the ecu it runs good tell it worms up them

you are a better tech than this. you of all people should know not to ignore a dtc. a lean code is often a bad MAF. k&n filters are known for taking out maf sensors. simply unplugging does not always work, you have a good test unit. don't be a parts replacer. use your obd. I would expect you to find a bad maf sensor, the load value is off or the altitude compensation is off, often a baro sensor. both are often in the maf. put a maf in the car, or baro. I have seen this problem several times
