Some people say that by stretching the spring of the VTC actuator, the famous Honda cold start rattling issue can be fixed. I tried to test this on my CRV 2014. It had a mileage of 125000 kilometers. I am giving my feedback below if this cheap fix can eliminate the issue. I know from the metallurgical point of view that stretching a spring may not be a good idea to improve its compression force for long-run use, but short-term it does. If this can eliminate the spring, I can be replaced it with a new one, or replace the complete VTC actuator. However, if the rattle continues, then replacing these parts is not a fix for the rattle. Further, it can be seen all other parts of the VTC actuator are in very good condition and not has changed their original shape.
Observation: The rattling issue was not able to be fixed with this procedure, so spring is not the issue.
