@PeaceOz_introv. they do have small bones, but once they're cooked the meat separates from them easily. Sometimes you'll get a few still in the meat but you'll just have to pick them out
Got a feeling that's from a joke. 3 men argue over how much to give to the church. 1st- we draw a circle on the floor, throw our money in the air. Whatever lands inside we give away ? 2nd- we draw the circle, throw the money, whatever lands outside the circle we give away ! 3rd 🤔 we throw the money in the air , whatever God wants he can keep 😂....
As a kid, I'm now a 44 year old one, we used to say we let the wind deside. From north and west = freshwater, from south and east = saltwater 👍 When I was still in school, I would fish about 90% of the summer 😅
@@erikfrankfurt4650With trout, you have to be careful not to damage the fillet while scaling it-- Bluegills require a stiffer scaling to remove the scales--
My earliest fishing memory is from when I was like 6 to 8. I caught a couple good sized cat fish with my dad. I wanted to catch and release but my dad had other plans. It was at the time a hard lesson when he butchered and cleaned the up and we made a cat fish stew. He passed when I was 11. It wasn't till years later in my late teens to early 20s I realized what a valuable lesson he gave me.
I’m so glad to hear you say eat the skin too. I like making them super crispy with the tail too. The tail seems to hold a lot of flavor, to me at least
That looks SO damn delicious. For the unexperienced, you haven't lived until you pan fry 1-hour line caught trout in butter, served with eggs over-medium, for breakfast. Heaven.
Every year(before the lake got bad) they would release a bunch of rainbow trout into it. It was always a summer event. Near every part of open bank was covered with folks itching to get some. One year we made out like bandits. I got 6and gramps got 8, and when we were leaving an older gentleman asked if we eat the fish, and yeah, we do. He had an entire bucket overloaded with em, and some crappie! Great memory with grandpa!
I feel like real survival is about making it through a short term situation. You can go indefinitely without meat but carbs, water, shelter, and fire are all things you could die without before being rescued.
@@cringlatorum ok? No one is talking about emergency survival. There’s 100,000’s of people in this country that “survive” longterm in the wilderness from Alaska to redwoods to the planes to the Appalachians to the swamps and beyond.
@@andydietrich3689 okay you putting survive in scare quotes means even you know that we aren’t talking about the same thing. Also the wildman thing is pretty bogus, it’s libertarian larp mostly, all humans need community and work best in cooperation and mutual aid, very very few Americans actually live without support from the state, corporations, their daddy’s trust fund, or community organizations and it’s not a good thing.
If you fillet a trout and leave the tail attached to the two fillets, connecting them together, you can drape the fish over a stick, with one fillet on each side. Imagine the tail is a saddle straddling the stick and the fillets are saddle bags hanging off the sides of the stick. With this arrangement you can get a smoky smoldering campfire going and drape them in the rising smoke until they become smoked trout jerky
Free? Truck maybe paid for, worms, hooks, frying pan, cooler, beer, more bait extra line and weights. Perhaps taking a day off of work, knife to skin it, seasoning, grease, frying pan, fork, beer, maybe some vegetables to go with it, beer and of course you're gonna need toilet paper. Let's do the math: 3 fish = $342.57. But it's all worth it!!!
Fr some of my regular dinners are just a whole fish fried in oil over rice with some soy sauce on it and veggies on the side, it's sooo good especially the crispy skin and fins
You made it look so easy! Seriously though- pretty good day and a nice meal! My friend and I caught & cooked a tiny sunfish while camping back in the day🤣
@@Yoylesphere I’m the one telling you that you’re definitely smart enough to do it.. idk why you’re mocking me. All it takes is effort it takes zero brains lol
You can absolutely do it. Doesn't take as much as you think. Go ask anyone you know that fishes and they'll probably be more than happy to show ya the ropes, or you can do a little googlin and figure it out in a hurry!
This is great. Please make more videos like this. We don't know how to tell when the meat is good or bad. We need to learn how to cook wild animals without a meat thermometer.
Seeing videos of someone catching fish for a sufficient food source is very relaxing. People have the wrong idea that the fish they’ve caught should be released because what they are doing is recreational, which is fine. But eating fish only from the supermarket is not.
Something we Americans can be jealous of though: You definitely should be magnet fishing your rivers, like the Thames. You can come up with some serious treasures. Just remember to share them to academics first. Consider old antiques, to belong to everyone.
Lovely to see fishing. Nowadays i also fish 🐟 for meal and its exciting plus brings food for free. I cannot afford fancy lures but earthworm works for me.
I've learned more on your channel then anything my dad ever taught me lol Great stuff though. I legit use your techniques when I'm out in the wilderness of Pecos NM
@almandinethegamer3184 Catch and release stresses the fish & a large percentage of fish returned to water end up dead. You don’t catch deer & throw them back into the woods after selfie to post on social media, why is doing it to a fish OK? I’ve never fished just to throw something back in my life because I don’t get off on torturing animals for my own amusement. I catch them for food because they’re nutritious, I like the taste & it’s a free dinner.
I never realized how beautiful trout are. Thanks for the informative video, now I just need to be able to touch the fish 😅 until then, that's what my youngest is tasked with😂
