Does anyone think the true is that Troye died. Because, when Troye showed up at the funeral, none could see him, even his lover. Troye and others in the funeral left the diferrent directions, he came to another tomb (I think it coube be his own tomb). And when Matt's girlfriend saw him hugging Troye, she immediately pulled him out of that place and her face was shocked. Maybe what she saw is Matt is hugging NOTHING? Both Dad and Lover are gone, Matt is alone but he isn't able to be himself, loves the girl he doesn't love at all. That is the very reason why he can't live anymore. Maybe that's the way he could be with Troye forever.

I don't think the song is complicated as people make it out to be. It's interesting to believe Troye is the one that died, but because of the flashbacks during the funeral. It's safe to say it's the fathers funeral. Troye attends out of respect, but leaves midway, because he can't cope with the idea of Matts gf being the one to comfort him. It should be him not the girl. Matt sits there remembering all the good times he has with his father as any normal person would do, but as he's leaving he finds Troye and realizes he's now "free" from his dads enforcement. He practically melts into Troyes arms, but they're interrupted by Matts gf. She looks confused or upset, because before she left she was trying to comfort Matt, but he clearly wanted to be alone, but to see him being vulnerable with Troye it puts up the question of who does he actually love? (The obvious answer is Troye) You can see them bickering, and Matt looking back at Troye as they leave, and Matt is also having flashback of his dads aggressiveness at the same time. Considering the way Matt was mourning for his father. He loves and respects him, so out of that respect he stopped associating himself with Troye. I think it's safe to say as he was leaving he was remembering why he left Troye to begin with, and how its a betrayal to his father to be near him. At the end you see him at a cliff where he clearly takes his own life, because having to choose between his fathers "wish" and being with Troye. He can't choose, so he jumps.

As much as I'd love a part 4, I think the whole point is that there aren't always happy endings. Sometimes everything just ends and it sucks.

for those who are new because coming from bright’s story, try to dig troye sivan deeper. he literally made so many masterpieces through his songs. anyways this video is the third sequel from wild (1) and fools (2) as a blue neighbourhood trilogy. it tells about a forbidden love between two boys until both of them try to blow it away but they can’t. they love each other so much. ❤️

I swear I have not cried this hard in years. I never even shed a tear with most movies, no matter how sad they may be. But THIS EVIL TRILOGY! I sobbed from the beginning till the end. It’s so powerful and symbolic however, with a beautiful meaning behind it that is very rarely portrayed in pop culture. The “forbidden gay love” topic is in that is rarely covered in things like this, and I have to say this is one of the very best gay anything’s I’ve ever seen. Being gay in modern society is not easy, unless you're really lucky. This video represents the truest of struggles for gays. It reaches deep into my heart. Thank you for this.

troye and his friend have been best friends since they were little, and always felt some sort of connection that was more than friends. they didn't pay attention to it because they were too little to understand, so the story moves on. they grow older and become teenagers, and they understand that they have a crush on each other. the chemistry between them grows, and they eventually kiss and (possibly) have sex. the father of the other boy catches them kissing and, since he is a homophobe, beats his son and tells troye to stay away from his son forever. the boys are drawn apart and troye is walking down the street and sees his friend holding hands and walking with a girl. this obviously confuses troye and he is upset, so he goes to see him. the father sees him talking to his son and keeps a close eye on them, as his son pushes troye away and yells at him. the boy goes back to his dad and reassures him that troye won't come back and that he yelled at him to stay away. now, in this video, the boy's father dies from what is most likely his alcohol addiction (he is shown drinking VERY often). the boy is sad about his father's death and everyone shows up at the funeral, including troye. troye can't stand the memories of everything that happened so he walks away and sits on stairs that lead out of the graveyard. the boy who's father died is naturally sad, but he also realizes that this is his chance to be with troye. he hugs troye and they hold on to each other, because they have pushed each other away the past few years. they are finally reconnecting and then the boy's "girlfriend" sees them hugging and drags the boy away from troye. the boy is so distraught over his memories, his father, and the feeling that he will never be accepted nor with troye leads him to stand on the edge of a cliff and look out at the ocean where he used to go swimming with troye as a kid. he closes his eyes and jumps off the cliff, ending his life. that is the end. there ya go. **A great point made by SuperBlablablaxxx: To add on to this, the father's death actually held more value to both Troye and the other boy. In part 1 they played golf and stuff, and then ran off into the woods and the waters... Without his father there, they would never have met each other and became best friends and then lovers. So although his father was homophobic, I think both boys still felt for him on a more personal level when he died. The girl can't really comfort him as well as Troye clearly did. And I think that's really sweet... Such true love. If only his dad could understand that Troye is the one that makes him feel happy and not the girl. Gender honestly doesn't even need to play any role in who people decide to love, and Blue Neighborhood really shows that. Love is love

It’s been 6 years and I’m still crying to this

To all the people who didn't understand the storyline, this is the way I interpreted it: Part 1- Troye and the other boy are in love. They have known each other ever since they were little kids. The bf's dad is an alcoholic and abusive and he starts a fight with Troye's dad and yeah. Part 2- Troye and the bf are older now and they're still in love. But the bf's dad catches them and since he doesn't believe in gays he beats his son and threatens to kill both him and troye if he doesn't "change." So to please his dad the bf gets a gf and pushes troye away. Part 3- The bf's dad died and they're at his funeral. Troye shows up. Even though the bf's dad was controlling, violent, and mean his son still chose to see only good in him. Everyone is pushed away so he could have his time alone at the grave so troye sits on a step in the graveyard. The bf spots him afterwards and walks over to him.

honestly this is the saddest trilogy, the wife/girlfriend handles the guy so roughly like his dad did and its so upsetting because he basically moves from one abusive person to another. i loved the reunion hug between troye and his "ex" because its so heartfelt and genuine. i really wish this ended happily for them, but sometimes in life there aren't happy endings. (wait what if there was a 4/3 with the song heaven or something)

You can tell me that his new music is better all you want, but nothing will ever rip into my soul like this trilogy and that's a fact.

...and so, after the boy went for a quick swim, he went home where the other boy was waiting for him. He had been waiting for him after he had dropped off a poor lost girl who randomly showed up at his dad's funeral. They had a quiet night of Netflix and chill and they lived happily ever after. I GET IT I GET IT The blue neighbourhood could mean the actual neighbourhood he's living in is blue (sad), or the state of mind where "everything is sad", and in WILD, 'leave this blue neighbourhood' means he's fleeing from the reality where it is sad, and living in a place where he can fall in love and go "wild", even when he knew it's not safe, leading him to say 'it's been too long since im a fool', which means he's so euphoric that he doesn't care, or think of the consequences, leading to FOOLS, where al the realizations shit happens and BAMMZ. He realized 'only fools fall', and he was a fool. Now, laced with regret, he wanted to change the past, but the past changed him, as the father and son shooed him away, When he saw the boy with the girl, the regret transformed to jealously, and the fool became the girl, because Troye knew he was the only one who would love the boy as much as he did, and he, too was a fool (for many things obviously. troye was a gigantic fool and this is messed up.). Then he did a commercial for the HP comp, which serves kinda like a teaser. TALK ME DOWN is also filled with regret, but the facts were clear he couldn't do all the things he wanted to do with him, but he couldn't because the boy was so different already, and his past was still haunting him, so he let him go. The boy escapes Tyoye's love, and it ends with the sea, because it is blue, everchanging, and endless, just like Troye's love for the boy. and of course there's obviously the storyline, and the song storyline but HEY.

I'm not the biggest fan of Troye Sivan's work, but from what I've heard of the rest of his music, Blue Neighborhood is arguably his best and most important work, from the music to the story these videos tell. I think it's a universal thing as gay men that we have this idealized fantasy of growing up with a best friend you can fall in love with, vs. the harsh realities of the world. Your friend denying his nature for the sake of appearances is just one example, and I love that the story of Blue Neighborhood as a whole is so heavily reliant on imagery. I hope he continues making this sort of stuff and realizes how important this collection was.

The way he pulled away from Troye when the girl showed up... it reminded me of someone who was still uncomfortable with their sexuality being caught in an intimate postion and immediately pushing away in order to keep up that guise of "normality". I think the sad truth is that not everyone can overcome internalized or external homophobia. And the saddest part about this, in my opinion, is that even with his dad gone, the guy still reluctantly values his father's opinion. He loved Troye, but there has to be some guilt and shame shadowing that feeling. A part of him saying, this is wrong and my father would be ashamed of me. That kind of thing isn't so easily forgotten by a child who most likely respects and looks up to their parent. It really hurts my heart. The sense of inadequacy and conflict he must've felt, loving someone but still plagued by guilt and someone else's disappointment... ugh. And if we want to get symbolic, the father can represent society as a whole. Because even now, with the rise in awareness and openess, there is a large number of those who don't approve. And while it's great to think that everyone can say, "Eff you, I'm unapologetically me," that's not the reality of it at all. Anyway, just wanted to share my thoughts :) xoxoxo
