Somehow during some really good band openings managed to hear one of these CSX detectors in the Toronto area, instead of the normal CN hotbox detectors i hear here. That was a rare one!.

Railroad rules typically stipulate that radio transmissions must end with "over", if a response is expected, or "out", if a response is not expected. In following this, detectors indicate the end of the their reports with "Defect Detector out", or sometimes, "end of transmission".

Dose this radio frequency have a CTCSS or a DCS? I keep waiting to put this on my BearCat, But the frequency always seems to have a lot of noise on it and jams up the scanner. I like to listen to HAM and stuff.

As far as I know the railroads don’t use any type of CTCSS or DCS filters.

It comes from international radio protocol or whatever it’s called. Ham radio, etc.
