factory HID kits in cars all run 4300k bulbs. Aftermarket companies or other HID kit's will sell ~5000k because it gives off a slightly more crisp white/bluish hue to it. Companies (like TRS) who put time and money into high quality parts will opt for aftermarket 4300k bulbs to get them as OEM as possible. At the end of the day, it's up to you what you choose.
this is a great looking kit. i wish i knew if my new car will need a wire harness. my old car did. i'm just a bit worried about how well HIDs will work with my daytime running lights. i guess i buy everything that i think i need and hook it all up. it seems like a bit of a nightmare finding places for wires, ballasts, and grounds.
So can I just use a canbus harness instead of a relay harness ? ? Are converters needed at all ? Or can I just use the hid kit and a canbus harness anti flicker ?
Jeeezzzzz!!! No headlight alignment after re-installing them??? After seeing the extensive process we do at the assembly plant to align headlights, bumpers grills etc, you would not want to remove anything from your car...lol
JUST BOUGHT A 2013 FUSION. I HAVE A QUESTION BE FOR A PLACE AN HID T.R.S ORDER. SO WITH THE KIT I DO REQUIRE A STANDALONE CAM-BUS OR A RELAY HARNESS? THANK YOU
Stupid question but how do you know what to choose as far as stand alone can-bus or the second option with the relay? I have a 08 Audi A3 halogen bulbs! But I've heard crazy stories of hid kits shortening out components. Any advise would be appreciated it! Thanks in advance. Ps. What's better for my car 35 w or 50w
Wait wait.. Ok so I want to purchase from you guys but I'm not understanding your installation here: 6:05 You are routing the stock switch harness into the stand alone, then to the ballast... and then from the ballast to the lights? Shouldn't the ballast get power from a relay harness to avoid damaging the stock harness? I have a 2012 Ford Focus and my current setup consists of a relay harness and 2 resistors to prevent the bulb fault error. Would the standalones take place of my resistors or am I missing something in the connections? I don't understand how to incorporate those in the connection as a whole. Can you help me understand what all I would need from you guys for your kit?
It might help to take a look at the different diagrams we have: www.theretrofitsource.com/core/media/media.nl?id=1718927&c=5129608&h=yw4eOuIe7Cdq7-z928LnFrdS3LBj17tIuow6xZosknPYLODn The setup of the standalone can depend on what you are installing it for. No tape on the pins connected? They’re going to ground out sooner or later ? I just did a retrofit to my 2013 fusion titanium with Morimoto FX-R 3” night and day difference the stock fusion projectors are possibly the worst for cars that year.
The connectors should protect the pins just fine, glad to hear you like those projectors! If there is anything else we can do for you, let us know! Have a good one!
I'm interested on purchasing this kit for my 2012 Ford Fusion Sport. Would this setup work in my vehicle as well? I like the simplicity and clean look after the install!
I've purchased one of these kits (35w), and standalone canbus, but I sometimes the lights doesn't light up (keeps flickering and flashing, and I also get error messages on the panel). Should I try one of these "resistors" or "capacitors"?? I own a VW Golf Mk7
A relay harness is not always needed, but we always highly recommend installing one as it's an extra safety precaution. Here's a great article about this topic: gtrlighting.com/blog/do-i-need-a-relay-harness-and-how-do-you-install-it/#:~:text=A%20Relay%20Wiring%20Harness%20utilizes,positive%20terminal%20on%20the%20battery.&text=An%20HID%20wiring%20harness%20for,to%20a%20successful%20HID%20installation.
im looking for ml350 2012 h7 hid kit i try one before and the light is blink every few second..so what do i need thank and do you have those kit that i can buy.
+Ray G I've been using mine in an F150 with Spyder headlights for about 3 years now. Still using original bulbs. They don't seem to have an issue in my retrofit projectors. I imagine in factory lights they will be okay but a projector is recommended..
I have an 09 Cadillac CTS and i have aftermarket SPEC-D Tuning headlights for it, They use H1 bulbs and I wanted to replace the crappy stock bulb in them for an HID kit, would you recommend a hd relay or a canbus? Also, would the H1 HID's fit in the headlights? I heard you had to get a retrofit kit to get them to fit.
i isntalled my hids on my 2014 ford fusion... i used the same relay harness you show here... but i have flickering headlights when ever i use the turning signals. i did not use any capacitor links... do you think i need one and did you use a caplink on this install?
It's similar, but different. If you use the anti-flicker, you don't use the relay harness to connect to the battery. That will just plug right into the factory wiring.
Please! the insulator tube of the xenon bulb h7 is meant to be facing down in the projector? The bulb in the projector is hold by a clip so it can be moved and positioned in several ways.
What about the MOPAR LOW BEAM: MORIMOTO ELITE HID SYSTEM kit for my DART 2014 ? less expensive than the RAM (4 resistors) kit and should also work according to your site. pls confirm, thanks
@@RetrofitSource Using 55w ballsat with 6500k bulbs is ok ? It's true it will reduce it to 5500 ? And by the way,my previous halogen bulb was 60 watt So i have concerns regarding heating, wire melting ?
Hi, I removed a cheap hid kit from my Dart 2014 because "burn bulb" and flickering issues and now I am searching for a best hid kit... will your 9006 HID CAN + Capacitor be the solution? also 100% no errors on my dash panel? I also notice bad light output with the cheap 35W kit (I have OEM projectors), Do you believe Morimoto kit will have more light output than cheap ones? or need 55W kit to really notice good difference. thanks for the help. I'm in mexico, ready to buy, just need to be sure will work. (btw I did use the resistors, and even with them I saw flickering on 1 light only).
+J Smith This is the kit you need for your Dart, works perfectly, tested and verified by many owners here in the USA www.theretrofitsource.com/hid-systems/morimoto-elite-hid-system-15-dodge-ram-low-beam.html
+The Retrofit Source Inc Thank you, is quite expensive, is RAM same bulb than DART? also Do I need everything in order to have it right? (4 resistors, dual relay, capacitors, ...) :S also I searched something about OSRAM bulbs, do you have those new OSRAM bulbs that offer 20% more light and are clear white/blue on road? and 1000% original with OEM boxing and warranty from OSRAM? if so then I will purchase asap :) thanks!
+J Smith Osram does not make 9012 HID bulbs...so wherever you saw that was selling a fake product. The Morimoto XB HID Bulbs are as close to original equipment spec as possible, produce nearly the same lumens and have the same lifespan as the popular Osram CBI But yes, the kit is expensive, because you pay for what you get!
Can i get your stuff in Serbia , i can only find the projectors but no bulbs or anythig like that, are they even original? They are about 40 to 70 euro ? You can direct message me if you can't write prices here Please
The standalone canbus harness can be found here: www.theretrofitsource.com/canbus-morimoto-standalone.html We have updated the harness since this video was shot. So it does look slightly different.
Yes they are good quality at a good price. Me and my brother both replaced our oem xenon bulbs on our bmw's with Morimoto 3five D1S type bulbs at 5000K. Not only were the Morimoto bulbs brighter than my oem bulbs, which were brand new oem's btw, but i was able to pick the color I wanted. I went with 5000K over the oem 4300K. Gives it a slightly "blue'r" hue, but still bright white light. Now technically 4300K puts out more light than an equivalent 5000K bulb, but the Morimoto bulbs are just so much better than the oem osram xenarc bulbs we had. We both have adaptive headlights(projectors swivel with steering), no errors. Just brighter, more crisp light, and i think even quicker start up. I have a BMW 335i and my bro has a BMW 535Xi. Both cars are wayy brighter with the new bulbs and like i said no problems, no dashboard errors. My cousin has a full Morimoto 3five HID kit in his G35 coupe. Came with ballast, bulb, and brackets. No problems, been over a year now.
@@RetrofitSource I understand. Thank you for responding. 2010 Honda Accord for me (spec d aftermarket headlight assembly-morimoto xB 35's). Is there such a thing as bad projectors? I'm not impressed with my beam pattern or road illuminosity 😑. maybe my hid bulbs are not aimed properly? Is that a thing in projectors? Bad aiming?
That could be a problem with the bulb alignment, but it is hard to say. Especially being that you have aftermarket headlight housings, that may take a little more digging to find the issue. Shoot us an email and we should be able to get you taken care of no problem! Support@TheRetrofitSource.com
Thx for the blunt ... feedback. I don't know, for some reason part of me was thinking that they were made-to-look-like projector housings.....why would they put halogens in a projector housing? What benefit does it have? Halogens shine the same regardless of and without being installed in a projector housing, right? Maybe because they wanted it to look cool? Well, if that's the case, if style was all they intended, then it would make sense that they built the car with a "projector-like" housing and not REAL projectors. It just didn't/doesn't make sense to me why the vehicle doesn't come standard (at least on a Titanium and SE edition) with HID's. But, at least, from what you're saying, there's only one style of projector housing and Ford doesn't make housings that are made-to-look-like projectors. I can live with that.
I think he was referring to the fact it's a bad idea to put xenon bulbs in a halogen housing, regardless of if it's a projector or not. I have heard of several people burning the insides of their housings. You need a proper HID projector housing.
There is no "rest" they used the stand alone, which is the little box that they plugged into the ballast.. it used the stock harness, not an extra relay harness.
Wow, so many industry experts on HID instillation commenting on this video but I can’t seem to find any of their videos showing them doing this for a living...🤣. Isn’t that veeeard...?
