"Can't look at both sides of the truck at the same time, ain't going to the truck show."🤣🤣 Always a great watch, showing all these processes, awesome work!!
Great work, Fred! I learned a lot about a skill I’ve never paid much attention to. Like the intro, the editing and production, too! I’ll definitely be back for the paint video. 👍👍👍 ~ Grillin’ John
I didn't know you guys had a channel until now, but now I am subscribed and will go back over you clips and hours of viewing ahead for me. I am a car nut from Australia
Hi Fred, you said the same thing about doing fiberglass and nailed it. Modesty. I'm working on the bed of my S-10 had to replace the whole bed side and part of the frt. bed wall and rail which I had to fabricate, This is in SW Pennsylvania so sometimes you don't have much to work with. I spent some time in Tucson 50 +yrs. ago and I could not believe the condition of the vehicles in the wrecking yards, they were in better condition than the stuff here on the street. You Fred are a master in your field and beyond. Great Job man.
I stare at a computer screen all day, this looks so much more satisfying. Great channel, I came over from Sarah n tuned. Keep up the excellent work. I’m amazed at how well it turned out. Skills that I don’t have. Kudos.
Your stitch-work weld was flawless. I am fairly certain that every other technique was pretty much the same quality. Ya'll bodywork, welding, paint artists are AMAZING to watch! Great editing to make several hours of work fit into 23 minutes!!!
Some great explanations of the work involved and the steps to get to the point of painting. Nice welding tips too. I have a full sill to weld in on my 1996 Ford Fiesta and this helps immensely.
Fred ! .... Tradesman indeed. New here peeps (via that mad owner of the truck from next door). Really interesting following that, look forward to next steps. 👍 from 🇦🇺
I always enjoy watching some who takes pride in their work. I work with to many people who just don't give a F#@k and would rather be sitting in a chair staring at their phone.
Greetings from yet another viewer of Sarah's! Thanks for being so detailed in showing the process -- I will probably never do it myself, but it'll be easier to gauge the work of a body shop. In the future, if you don't mind, would you provide a few words explaining some of the terminology? For example, I've never heard "kitty hair" used in the context of metalworking, and the meaning wasn't clear to me from the video. No problem hitting the googles, but it would be nice to have a bit more context to search with. Subbed! 👍️
We will be sure to explain terminology in the future - Kitty hair is formulated with long strands of chopped fiberglass which doubles the strength of standard fillers.
NICE ,new to your channel ,but i really like the way you explain what your doing AND WHY.You make it easy to understand why it cost more to have it done RIGHT. Yes ,you could have applied bondo {like they used to do 20 years ago}and it would have looked exactly the same once painted. But THIS is the RIGHT way to do the job. Thanks for explaining what you did.
As an older guy who worked jobs like this for a long time, make everyone wear safety gear - primarily respirators or masks when sanding or grinding. Eye protection, etc.
I'm quite a useful welder with different media, but by no means a professional. I know people who don't weld as well as I do, that call themselves professional welders. You good sir are far more than a glorified bodywork man. Knowing one's strengths and weaknesses makes a fine craftsman. 👏
I feel bad for saying because you did such a great job. But if you're not aware of it the Por15 is actually a 3 stage rust preventive system with 3 products (degreaser, metal prep and coat). The Por15 metal prep is important to prevent rust from developing again underneath the coat. If it's left out the Por15 coat can end up pealing off again. Also the Por15 coat is actually not UV light resistant. So it needs a coat of "normal" paint on top of it. I hope this helps so you don't get any surprises
Did the inner parts get painted? The support structure you replaced, etc. Is Sara going to refinish the underside of the box? The corners look very nice. Looking forward to the paint matching.
Nice job, learned a bit there for a project I need to do on my e46 BMW rear arch! Hopefully not that bad just a sand, antitrust, fill sand and paint/blend in.. Just subscribed as didn't know you guys had a channel aswell! Ps . Did you anti rust the inside metal panels and structure for rust prevention or just leave it as is? Cheers from London England 👍😎🏴
Hey, I had a quick question for you does that carpet trick really works because I got a painting but it’s just like yours.I haven’t put it up but that’s what I’m thinking about putting down carpet before I start painting
Yes it does. Fred started using carpet more than a year ago but now buys New Pig Paint Booth Mat. Cost is similar to buying carpet. www.amazon.com/New-Pig-Protects-Surfaces-Dissipative/dp/B07ZK3V6FY/ref=sr_1_1?crid=28APJYO5IABP0&keywords=newpig%2Bbooth%2Bmat&qid=1694377554&sprefix=newpig%2Bbooth%2Bmat%2Caps%2C161&sr=8-1&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.ac2169a1-b668-44b9-8bd0-5ec63b24bcb5&th=1
And you said your not a body man.... What?? Most who call themselves body guys would have bonded a patch panel into that spot and fixed the seem with copious amounts of kitty hair.. How do you not get more views??
I have had a few videos in the past get random artifacts after RU-vid does their compression scheme. The videos did not have any glitches before uploading so...not sure what I can do about it
