Facts. To me trucking is a better job to do seven or eight months out of the year. Save up and then take 2 to 3 months off or more. If you don’t have that many bills. I’m on my fifth year now, and I recently came off an eight month break. I’m only seven months in with this new carrier, and while it’s not a bad company, they’re working me 14 hours a day consistently. Often six days a week. It’s pretty exhausting. I don’t care how good the money is, I miss friends and family, and I’m tired of being tired. When you look in the mirror and your eyebags, look like you just went through a boxing match, And your legs cramp from the lack of moving, and your body just says, shutter down, and no amount of caffeine new intake will keep you awake. I’ve never been a drug addict or an alcoholic, but I’ll say that when I am home, all I want to do is get drunk and sleep. I don’t, but that’s just where my heads up. Right now trucking is rough for everybody.

Wouldn’t that be bad on your resume going to different companies every year

In trucking you will get burnt out quick, it’s mentally exhausting, save your money for at least 3 months straight

Former marine myself so shot out to you devil dog. Everyone needs isn't the same and for people to say I'm getting into trucking so I can get out of trucking is like a stripper saying I'm on the pole so I can eventually get off the pole. Lol I'm not knocking your points but trucking isn't a bad gig . A lot of us expected trucking to fix all of our problems and it's not going to do that. Am I going to be trucking forever , no but whatever your purpose is that makes you happy that's a personal decision.

Not the best advice, stay healthy, eat healthy and most importantly be active. Take that tire load, take that driver tailgate and unload. You can run hard and still have a good sleep cycle/quality of sleep. I’ve been at this 17 years, OTR for half of that now doing line haul. Sure it’s okay to step away from the truck, but there’s more to it than that. It’s easier to do now than ever with ELD’s and not having the pressure to run hard and it illegal all that time.

U right it’s more than that ……. And 17 years is too long. Good luck to ya though run that bag up and create some passive income for ya self 💯

At least take 3 week vacation . Join a strong union like Teasters . You can start a junk hualing business with a pickup or a dump trailer

True Travel Trucker, I drive less now. and we ALL can earn multiple streams of income once we all come together. Truth be told, Mega carriers not just depending on hauling freight 12 months a year to earn profits, so why should you. Think about that for a minute. They have multiple streams of income. This industry has change so we as drivers need to change. Time to come together.
