Mexico Pays GM workers 3$ an hour. They sell those in the states for 40-70k$ . Labor cost is only 5-7% of a vehicle. So this whole prices will go is an absolute lie. Germany pays 20$ n hour more than any UAW in the states and they still make record profits. Lot of uneducated people here

Honestly gonna see yearly releases become a thing of the past with the way stuff going. Problem with pushing out loans is it decreases the consumers down the line. Someone who buys every 4 years gotta wait 6-7 years now or be upside down in next loan.

Gm makes some of their silverados in Mexico and those people are being paid penny's to build the Silverado but those same silverados are the same price as the American made silverados so if labor cost plays a role in these crazy vehicle prices... than why are Mexican made silverados which built with 100x cheaper labor being sold at the same price?

This is all really well said. Also worth noting that the market (people) can't keep paying these prices for vehicles. If you think increases wages won't just result in increased vehicle prices, you're crazy. The price of normal standard vehicles has just gotten outrageous. And these vehicles aren't even that reliable and the quality of fit and finish is not that great. I've owned many different manufacturer products. I've owned a lot of cars. The quality in recent years is horrendous. I have a Silverado with a 6.2 that had engine failure with 8000 miles. Also the AC system has been replaced twice. We have a top end company vehicle that recently had the engine fail at 50K miles and is in for warranty replacement. I owned a former Chrysler product that had nothing but issues for a top end trim level. People can't keep paying these prices and in return also not getting reliable, quality products.

The truck manufactures are creating artificial shortages to jack the prices sky high. The end is near as supply and demand will kick in like a hurricane soon. Soon they will have 50% discounts to move inventory and GM Ford will announce major earnings FUBAR. Let the trucks rot on the lots.

I say if the prices of vehicles end up going up this definitely won't be because of labor costs. Companies raise their prices just to raise their prices. I read that the labor costs are only about 5% of the cost to produce a vehicle. Just look at the last 10 years. The prices of a new vehicle has definitely gone up all during the same time their labor costs were way down. I bet if the prices do end up permanently going up it'll be because the automakers will try to use the UAW as an excuse to raise their prices. Please don't believe it will be because of labor costs if that's the case.

In July, I bought a new '23 Sierra (for MSRP minus GM discount, no markups or market adjustments) on a 7 year loan. I did not want to lease because who knows where truck prices will be in the next 2-3 years. My truck is an Elevation trim with the 5.3L. It basically sits between an SLE and SLT...$61,000. The SLT's were in the $70k's, the Denali's were between $75k-$82k, and the AT4X's were between $85k-$92k (at the dealership where I bought my truck). So, unless used truck prices continue to climb, I am out of the truck market for at least 5-6 years.

So… autoworkers strike, dealerships in Ca. Still have limited stock. Prices are outrageous. New trucks are literally priced out of reach for most people looking to get into one. Even the base line WT is 40K. I am happy that I was able to get the 21 RST for 48K. It would now cost me 62K today. I wonder when the automakers and dealerships will relax their pricing? I know demand is still astronomical for trucks right now, but how much longer will it go? Just seems like it’s not ever going to end. Just sayin… also congrats on hitting 100K subscribers. You have been very entertaining and informative. Keep up the great videos.

Prices stayed the same? They have moved thousands of jobs to Mexico and the prices of their vehicles have tripled. Moving to Mexico isn’t going to make vehicles cheaper. GM, Ford, RAM have all announced they plan to produce vehicles for the "premium" segments attempting to capture more the of luxury end of the market. None of the big three plan on selling vehicles at a lower cost at any time in the future as it is. Additionally, the big three have all painted rosy pictures of long term sustainability at current pricing to shareholders. All the strikes do is provide the big three with an excuse for not meeting sales goals to shareholders while continuing to have unrealistic pricing. An artifical supply shortage like this is perfect for hiding the obvious fact that the American consumer can no longer afford the reduculous prices of todays cars. I dont expect a huge price correction any time in the near future, but I do believe shareholders will jump when they are finally rattled by reality and that can be a great time to short sell some stock.
@dlg5485

They can raise prices all they want, but they're just going to have to offer bigger discounts to get people to buy them. The brainless buying bonanza is over because economic conditions have changed dramatically and will continue to get worse for the foreseeable future. Truck prices have been insulting for years, but the most recent price hikes are downright infuriating. I want to buy a new Silverado RST 3.0 Diesel, but I'm not willing to pay anywhere near MSRP, so they need to get real on pricing if they want to sell me a truck.

It's all an absolute joke! The average hard working American can't afford much of anything anymore. I am empathetic but they lost me at the 32 hour work week. That is a sign of the average age of auto company employees. No one in their 50s or older would even think that was acceptable. * I refuse to call them “workers” because it has such a socialist overtone. You are either an employee or you are self employed.

@@robertpulliam9973weeks to learn a job is nothing and I guarantee you it only takes a few days. It’s not like a dr or something. That’s alright these dumb asses get a 40% raise and trucks go up much more theses dummies will be jobless because people will quit buying them. Truck sales is already on a decline because of dealer markups.

@@loganaurorathat's so untrue that it hurts. I think the average worker at the big 3 walks miles a day while simultaneously installing parts lol. This isn't the 80s anymore, many of their jobs got a lot harder. And there's a reason the big 3 pay them well, and it's not because it's so easy everybody wants to do it. They can hardly keep new hires in the door let alone long term.

A 46% increase would be nice but the already unaffordable would be come less affordable. I know people working at GM FACTORY earning $46 an hour. That's carzy good pay for a job that just about anyone could get trained to do. We all want to make as much as possible but you have to be reasonable and the UAW is not. They will push themselves out of jobs to another country or automation them out of one. I won't feel bad for them and they will have no one to blame but themselves. Me personally and my wife we both have good paying jobs with masters degrees. We make a good living but know less people are qualified to do our work because of the experience and education/training we have. That's why we get a better wage. The UAW is just a bully and don't actually produce anything they are a leach at this point. They were needed in the past for conditions but laws have caught up and they are a thing of the past except for the lazy

You have zero idea what we do. Im chasing vehicles all day. I have 58 seconds to do my job and the next one is coming up so fast i can barely get a drink. And temps make 16$ an hour to build a vehicle that sells for 40-80 thousand dollars. You have no idea what it takes to build these vehicles.
