It's always a good move to replace the ECM first when you have no idea what you're doing. If I had a nickel for every cam sensor changed on DT466, DT444 and 7.3 Powerstrokes I'd never need to work again! 💰
I have a 2007 international. Turn the key and you hear it cycle and power works. No start. Took it to a shop. They said cylinoid, the one by the passenger steps. Plus the ignition. $$1,100. Still does it. Took to dealership. They said trans mission modular. $3,000. Worked for a month. Doing the same thing again. Over 4k and it's still not fixed. Anything?? Any suggestions? Sometimes, it will fire up after 15 tries to start it.
On that exact truck is there a common issue that causes an intermittent no crank condition? I belive if power is disconnected and reconnected it starts back up. I dont typically work on hd but have a customer that cant seem to get a shop to correct it.
Ur awesome man. If u don’t mind got a 2008 freightliner mt55 6.7 Cummins. Someone jump started with reverse polarity, blew the tcm fuse. and now it starts but does not turn off. Have to remove tcm batt fuse to turn it off. Any recommendations?
Bro, could be the cam sensor a problem for injectors not firing on a 7.3 96 powerstroke? This a no start issue. That year cant be scanned as far as i know.. i tried 2 cam. Sensors but im not completely sure, i tried 3 icp sensors, another idm and ecm, 1 hpop, and customer tried 2, so that makes 3 different iprs and a 4th one alone. There is a short between #8 injector supply and the magnetic ground?? I tried to fix it but i didnt notice about a small spot shorting to the magnetic ground shield? Idk if this is enough to not start. Ive tried 4 batteries and a jump starter connected to it, but no start.. this batteries are from a kenworth so they work, but im not sure if they dont have enough amps to fire the idm.. Other detail is that the ecm is not grounding the idm relay.. Thanks in advance.. happy new year
What brand cam sensors did you use? I’m not too familiar with those older 7.3’s. I wish I could give you some useful advice on it. Maybe someone reading the comments can chime in if they’ve ran into a similar issue 👍🏻.
Hey got a DT466 95 MECHANICAL. Just changed oil, plus all filters. Had it air locked and it ran away while spraying ether. It stoped running away, mechanic was priming pump, (after he forgot to) and he was using the high idle knob at idle. Now.i tried to turn it on thid morning and it turned on cold start, sputtered and died. I didnt try it again because im afraid to let it runaway again. It started everyday.no issues before the oil change. Please lmk what i can do
