The truck at 7:22 is running hydrazine in his fuel- notice the green flames. Hydrazine was an old drag racer trick, made 20% more power but is very prone to exploding for no reason.
He would be lucky. It is not a farm tractor. The tire only has air in it so that the tractor can make the lowest weight class. The tire and rim by themselves are heavy, but it would be worse with calcium in them, like a farm tractor.
@Chordstride No kidding! And it's always on the ones with about 5 engines worth 100k sitting on top of the Mickey mouse wheels and axles from a grocery kart. Wonder what's behind that concept? It obviously sucks but maybe there are some weird rules/constraints.
What hp do the pups have? I didn't know they wear a protective neck collar but since seeing the shrapnel flying when engines blow I'm sure they're happy to wear them 👍
Either the engine will blow or it will do a wheelie and then destroy the front wheels when touching ground again. If you have miles deep pockets, this is the motorsport for you.
Re. at 0:36 1) Not supposed to happen. 2) Damn good driver. 3) Damn good brakes. Re. at 16:58 1) Not supposed to happen. 2) Not so good driver. 3) Not good brakes.
I think the roll cages are good but have the seat/headrest like nascars! Just watching your heads slam back n forth when they wheelie or dig in hurts me! So violent and i know that rattle the brain!
Me too! It's ALWAYS the ones with 3-5 engines worth a bazillion dollars riding and slamming up and down on the wheels n axles that look like they r robbed from a walmart grocery kart. One look at it slamming down has even the simplest Simon like me thinking, eh, that ain't gunna hold up.
8:35 This clip is so violent that it's almost disgusting. I am amazed that the driver just popped right up out of the seat like nothing happened after such a rough ride.
Was unlucky enough to make the video!! Lol 😂 truck sounded terrible! Ended up being just a drive shaft. Duramax at 10:00. I also have some videos on my channel.
Are none of these trucks equipped with their own fire suppression systems? Is it a cost prohibitive thing? Cause I feel like it would be a really good idea to spend the extra money for that added safety benefit.
I think that will come in time....when someone dies or burnt to death, then they will bring something like the your idea out...but yeah,I'm surprised they haven't put some sort of system on.
Weight is a main factor. I don't think it's really needed anyway, there are people standing on the sidelines ready to put the fire out at a moment's notice. I've been it the seat of a derby car during a fairly big engine fire, It was to burn a pretty long time before the driver feels any heat at all. Also, most classes require fire suits.
Yeah they don’t plan on them wheels doing much because they’re supposed to be in the air till the end of the pass lol, don’t work out that way sometimes tho, they more so run the old school little tires on the big mod multi engine tractors and mini rods. The big tractors most of them anyway have independent air ride front on them now finally
This has to be the greatest expression of freedom their is,the people that want us to not have private property and eat bugs must really hate this stuff.
Can't say I have ever seen a John Deere actually complete a pull. The engines blow or the front wheels fall off. The mini rod things are dangerous too much motor and too short a wheelbase. They rarely make a full pull either.
I've worked pulls before and been in situations like that. Everybody in the stands is watching, and everybody standing around what is going on is a know-it-all. And then you have somebody that is way overreacting (like the woman). Worst thing it would have done is roll back and hit the mast carriage of the telehandler.
@@ColbyJohnson Right thing, wrong reason. Usually the vent is sent back into the engine and burned. However, diesels can go into runaway, especially when driven to their limits. Venting this to the atmosphere prevents that.
Do any of this guys do a test before going to the competition?? I mean it's kinda stupid !! that you have a thought of big HP & torque and not put it to the test before the competition..
They test. When you push a machine and engine to the absolute max, sometimes you go a little too far. It doesn't happen very often either, this video was just highlighting them. Kind of like top fuel dragsters, they destroy the engine every pass and have to be rebuilt after each run. If you look at slow motion videos of them, lots of times the engine blows up within the last few feet of the track. In real time they are already going so fast you don't even notice.
I too think its stupid to destroy a tractor overloading it. However, that is the point of the sport of tractor and truck pulling. They want to basically see how far they can pull and how fast they can do it without destroying anything. This sort of thing is popular in my home town but I never went and saw any pull.
