Another great Vlog. Just wondering if you have sat down with an accountant and crunched the numbers on buying and running your own truck as opposed to working for Watson's ongoing..
Before you buy a truck Jacques please talk to some owner operators who have walked away from the transport industry. It’s a dog eat dog game low margins and you’ll never be home, then maintenance and repairs, then stuffed around by dc’s.
1 of my new favourite RU-vid truck channels right here. I work 4 a trailer company in Parkes & I’m sure I’ve seen u passing threw town. I get 2 practise backing b doubles in our yard with not much luck but I hav fun doin it😂.Keep up th awesome work with ur videos.
Just watch your Adelaide to Goondawindi. I am in NZ time 12noon via Broken Hill,Bourke, Moree. I really loved it Been in Adelaide 1969, Moree 1970, work ed at the then Golden Fleece Servo, then out out to Coppa Creek 2006 I was based Brisbane but was working on the Hume hiway between Albury and Holebrook but used travel down via Goondawindi Moree, Parkes, Glenfelled, etc just loved the out back. A great commentary Coming back in April 24 buying a campervan and going to back to all the places I have been then NT Thank you once again
Well done mate. Having goals and seeing them come to fruition is what its all about. Congratulations on your achievement so far and Good luck to you and your family. Cheers Michael
I remember when I done heaps of driving from Brisbane to Warracknabeal Vic I filled half my tub up with rubbish on one of the many trips just from the truck stops I pulled up in
Mate be careful buying your own truck theses days lot of people don't realize how hard it is have a few mate that own their own business it can be a costly experience if you do deside to get your own get something with warranty and low k,s keep the posts coming
Totally agree old mate, from experience there are highs and lows with being an owner/driver, when things are going good its absolutely great to know that its yours but just as fast its shit when things go bad, I owned trucks in the 80's and 90's so its a completely different time, all I can suggest is really think about it.
I appreciate the advice gents I’m not one to shy away from a challenge and take the odd risk I come to Australia with a pair of thongs and a back pack full of clothes almost been homeless all the hard yards 👍
22:46 = A great example of just how long it takes to pull out onto the road and how much caution you need to take when pulling out, that rear view mirror shot showing the trailers coming across is mind blowing.
Love these vlogs, mate. Reminds me of the days when I'd ride with my old man through to the Pilbara from Perth pulling 2 trailers to Carnavon before hooking up the 3rd trailer onwards to Port Hedland.
Mr Cross maybe make a downloadable checklist sheet that you do on you cheak around the truck!!! Maybe people that drive cars might understand more, and it might also help a greenhorn!!
So happy for you bro. I'm sorry. I watched bugger all of the live stream. didnt do much for me. I must just like the sound of ya voice. lol. safe travels
Hey mate, love the channel, CONGRATS on getting partnered with Ypu Tube!!!!!! Just wondering have you decided which sort of truck you'd like to buy?? Maybe a K220 Kibg Cab OR a Volvo Fh16 650 Globetrotter??
A trick you can try if you forget your go pro mount is use the head strap and put it over the passenger side headrest. It takes a bit of mucking around to get it to sit right, usually you have to stuff something between the seat and the back of the go pro to stop it wobbling around.
Congrats with the RU-vid partnership. This Vlog wasn't bad, camera angle was good too, keep up the good work. Ask You Tube about Membership too, were your subscribers can join up.
Crackin Vid mate, congrats on your youtube partnership. Bring on your own rig, life will change when you transition to the world of being a subbie. POV shots were great during this vid, keep up the great work. Looking forward to the next ep
Well done brother, your getting good at these vlogs. I have been watching from the start and when they put the brakes on you a bit a couple of videos back I was a little concerned that the quality might drop but you have navigated around the issues well. Personally I like the POV view better, it makes you feel like you are in the seat you can see gear changes the gauges and a more panoramic view. Just my thoughts dude but I definitely think it was your best video yet. Keep up the great work and stay safe you won’t make your dreams come true if you’re on your lid or laying down.
That's my mate 😢. we met through the motorcycle community. I was a bus driver before he started driving trucks. But we're related on motorcycles and driving. So I was devastated when I heard he had passed away.
Funny as you drove out of the Ampol at Gil it reminded me back in the late 80's next to where the Lpg tank is someone, who was maybe doing a change over had the legs penetrate thru the thin asphalt when he drove out from under the trailer. So be careful of the parking bay asphalt there. It might have been seepage under the ground in that spot cause the full length of the legs went under.
Once again thanks pal, great news, you deserve it. Can I just add do your homework re your own truck. Know a fair few guys who are in a bit of trouble. Till next time my friend.
Nice job. Like the map at the start. The good old newel, I will be on it going to Brisbane from Vic in June , I can’t wait, interesting you bypass Dubbo, what is that road like north of Dubbo ? Nice job on your utube news 👍
Just wondering .. loading is that considered work time in the work diary..if so your hours don't add up going on what you said in your video. Would be interesting to see you explain the working of a work diary please in your videos. Again, great video. Keep up the great work, and be safe.
Another great video mate. Well done. I was a bit worried Friday morning when I heard what happened at Brunswick Heads. I knew what company it was and that you were heading up that way. I was relieved when I saw your VLOG go up. Thoughts to old mates family.
"I dont know, im just a steering wheel attendant" Take the time now to start learning from the mechanics in your outfit while they are close by / available for free about what is wrong with that gearbox. When you have your own truck its all up to you to figure out. Sure you can shell out for mechanics, its going to add up fast. Time those wheels stop turning doesnt switch off your fixed annual costs and that family of yours still gotta eat. Everything you learn between now and when you achieve that goal will help you start to diagnose when - not if - something breaks. Travel safe!
Fuck I hope you make it big man you definitely are trying your best and one year from now I cant imagine how your much better your content will be and who knows you could own a truck by then.
I have been a truck spotter for about 15 years and have seen Don Watson trucks sooo many times! My main spotting count is for Jim Pearson trucks, a local transport company. Local, because I lived in the Taree area for for the last years of my working life and knew of them personally and through clients. Last year I did a trip back from Brisbane to home (Pindimar, near Tea Gardens) and counted 75 Jim Pearson trucks on my return trip to home. That's more than 1 every 10ks. Anyway, love your channel, keep up the good work!
Hey man how do you feel about the signing off time and sitting around while getting loaded and not been paid sitting for 4 hours then driving your route makes your days very long only getting paid per trip makes you do quite a lot of free work sitting around not been paid watsons are bad for that just an example Lindsay transport pay 52c per km and you don’t load trailers like you guys do your actually driving my old truck I done it for a few months but didn’t like the free work some days I’d work 18 hours with loading and unloading get paid a lot more at Lindsay do over 5000km per week heaps better conditions
Good to hear your happy working for Lindsay’s mate! It doesn’t worry me to be honest with you I have a good work life balance I leave on sundays to Melbourne and I got home early last night I’m about to head back in for my last run for the week but idk man I’m pretty happy with watsons 🤷♂️
Like your comment about bloody rubbish at truck stops but all the rest areas are the same. Being grey nomads have done Newell Highway a few times as we live in Nth Queensland and have Mokopuna in Melbourne. Is the Gore Highway between Toowoomba and Goondiwindi still rubbish. Every time been over it shakes the s-- out of the caravan. Have found the rest areas in the NT are the worst for rubbish. Thanks for the video Mate
Great video again. Sorry to hear about the man who passed. Great to know you are monetised. I would love to see Moree in the day one trip. Lived there 1972 to 78. Then down in Gunedah. Thank you and till next one stay safe.
Me again, prob a dumb question, how do you bypass Dubbo going north.? If you turn off at tomlingley and go to Narromine , how do you get back across to the newell ?
Great video. I enjoyed watching your checks & procedures that go on behind the scenes. It’s interesting to understand the drive time limits/rest limits related to fatigue management as well. Thanks
Not sure how they work brother they just record constantly I think I would love to bring some hats out because I love hats but haven’t got the 💰to do it yet
How do you deal with time differences and dealing with back home etc, like the clocks do they auto update and do you lose track with it constantly updating or is it not an issue, u set a watch an follow a strict time, I’d always find it weird like if I thought I was an hour ahead but the boss back home thinks I’m not, or does it effect logbooks etc?
All my clocks stay set to Qld time mate they only part that gets confusing is when I’m told load times in nsw and vic I just have to go do it an hour earlier than they tell me to 👍
I think your right for HI vis while you're driving. But I'm sure if you got hit by a car or anything. work cover would want to know you were wearing it.. 🙂
@crossfamilytrucking oh right. I've always known going west than down south is longer.. but mate if you go that way please show footage of beautiful Guyra range and lake Maybe I had it wrong way now thinking back to when the old man use to drive
Hey mate you probably have already answered this but what is the unit that is face towards you with the flashing lights? Also can you see the flashing lights or is it just the camera picking it up because I would find it quite distracting while driving.
@@crossfamilytrucking I thought it might just be the camera picking it up. That's just to make sure your nodding off and is it compulsory in all longhaul trucks ?
Hello, why not try do Melbourne to Wagga then go to west Wyalong then Straight to Brisbane on newell … between Melbourne to Wagga is very quiet and smooth roads … I was been done it when I was on Dubbo changerover runs
