Good video as always But the reason why in this video jay didnt need to add on extra minutes of other work at the end of previous shift which a person would normally do if leaving truck in yard and going home at night a driver would usually have to walk to debreif etc and there may be a queue in debreif etc which would still be other work during the same shift after digi tacho card was removed and those minutes would need to be added to the end of previous shift the following morning but as jay says in video he worked the previous day and as he is a tramper eg out all week in the truck and sleeps in the trucks etc as soon as he removed his digi tacho card from the tacho machine he was already at home eg the cab which is effectively his office on wheels instantly then becomes his home for the night etc so no added minutes of other work on tacho are necessary

Thank you for this! Ive only been driving a week and half and i bet ive got loads of infringements already with the bloody thing lol. Had a 45 today after 4 hour 20 minutes of driving and it was telling me i still needed a 15 and kept flashing and didnt reset itself so ive been panicing all the way back to the yard.

At the end you pressed "other work" , do you need to press OK to confirm it ?

Only other advice I would do, is when putting the card in change the symbol from bed to other work. Otherwise when you do the manual entry and it takes longe then a minute it will show something like 20:36-06.00 rest 06:00-06:03 other work 06:03-06:04 rest it’s just something I’ve learnt over the years myself great help video tho

Siemens is easy for manual entry. Stone ridge is the more complicated one.

What happens if the first time of using a digital tacho was over 2 weeks ago, why this is is because the 4th of September was my 1st induction day with a local skip company and my 2nd day is today which is the 18th of September, will I have to do a manual entry or not, if I have to do an manual entry will I have to do a print out and put training day on the back to say why I used my tacho card and that I’ve not used my tacho card since

Passed all my tests first time no problem, still after a month I can't get my head round this thing, there needs to be training or people will be getting fines for doing manual entrys wrong, it's harsh. Am I right in thinking you can't start driving until 06:36? Or usually 07:36?

but don't you need to tell it what you done after you took the card out at end of shift, your still at work until you get in your car to go home, if you take the card out at 4 but spend 20 mins handing in the keys doing a debrief ect , that should be on cross hammers still, as you are still working and must be recorded as other work the next day on the manual entry

Stupid question. If I finished my last shift and set it to rest at the time, then do I have to do a manual entry if I put my card in at the start of my next shift when I’ve done nothing in between?

Hello, my question is, when, for some reason i have to drive another truck during the day, how should i do the manual entry correctly? When the tacograph asks “rest until know?” and i mark “yes”, is that correct? Or should i select no, and do a manual entry as bed? Example: 6h i get a car and let it on a mech on 10h. 10h i remove the card and 11h i insert the card in another car. To 10h and 11h should i mark this 1h as rest? Or a manual entry with bed?

The line were you removed the card to the time you inserted it don’t change it from break to other work like i did 😆

What happens if there is a large amount of time between last using the tachograph card? Say you've driven vans in this time. You couldn't account for that period of time as it would take too long inputting. For the time you last removed your card to re-inserting would you put that period of time as rest even if it's weeks?

I have been doing my manual entries like this for the past few weeks and the video is easy to understand. However what is confusing is that when my employer/TM downloads my card their software for looking at my cards records doesn't show a start or finish time, yet if I don't do a manual entry it does show a shift start and finish time. Has anyone else come across this before?

Hi mate just a random thought so mod 4 on Thursday would you ever consider doing a mod 4 tutorial would be good for the channel and viewers like I was ament to have the bloody thing today but there was some confusion so I was doing a walk around but there's no simple way to understand it. Why would you need to do a manual entry? Do you have to do one everytime you insert the card for a new day? If you don't do a manual entry does it just record it as a rest by default?

This is questionable. If you parked up at 20:21 with it being on other work and ejected your card at 20:36 then that would be ok. But if you just parked up and ejected your card at 20:36 and didn’t do a manual entry with other work ending at 20:51 and DVSA pull you over your going to be in trouble. At the end of every shift by law you have to do a vehicle safety check which will need to be recorded. This example is for class drivers. Class one drivers make sure you add on 30 mins for your vehicle safety checks at the end of your shift. For eg he should of done a manual entry at the start being on other work from 21:06
