New owner op here. I'm leased on with a company and between the company cut and truck expenses, I'm making less than a company driver or about the same, but I've been reject loads aswell just because I'm not going to be working for peanuts as a OO. Glad more people are rejecting as well.
Tv show Moving On in 1974 34 shows on RU-vid one of them talks about $800.00 from Durham NC to New York fuel was under a Dollar no DEF no GPS no Cellphone no ELD that was way better than today like 2 eggs over easy $1.20 coffee was Free
To me, higher rejection rates might be a short term positive for the spot market but what it really indicates is the economy is bad and the Shippers are wanting their product hauled cheaper and cheaper and some of the contract carriers are drawing the line. So, good for them.
I think you're right. I'm dropping a load in VA , plenty of loads, but the rates are insulting. Luckily, I got a good rate coming in because I'm not putting those garbage rates in my trailer. Let it rot on the docks drivers!!
If the economy was doing worse then the volumes would be decreasing too but the volumes are getting higher. There also has been dramatic and sudden increase in ocean freight rates which would indicate that things are starting to move forward slowly? I think major problem we have is that we still have too much capacity in the market
@@tomek373 yes, but economy is still bad. It’s a seasonal improvement. It’s produce season. People still eat. Building/housing is poor and Ocean freight is because we import too much thanks to businesses outsourcing for cheap labor.
I still can't understand how some people can not like the "let's go" in the beginning of the video. Those people suck. I think it sets the tone for another cheery video from someone who just oozes with charisma. Even when it's bad news. You can't teach natural charisma like that. Rock on Miranda.
If you believe #45 is gonna be any better for truckers, you're in for a rude awakening! Remember, he, like all politicians, is beholden unto big corporate. So there is absolutely no incentive on either side to enact policies that boost the freight market out of the dirt-cheap rates that have become the norm. The only ones who matter/win are the corporations and their shareholders. Neither Trump nor Biden could care less about us truckers. If I had any other career options, I'd be out of trucking a year ago.
No wonder you drive a truck. If you master hope l wtf you need a knowledge, as understanding supply/demand, velocity of money, volume of loans at inflation rate…🤦.
On the truck and trailer sales side, we are seeing increased buyer activity. That is froim the wholesale equipment point of view. Thanks Miranda for insights. Hope your 4th was awesome.
West Virginia doesn't seem to do well just going from the two maps you made, its like an island unto itself...I wonder why that is. Yea numbers can sometimes only tell half the story and sometimes even less than that. But not all the time, I think poll numbers...in some cases (like if you were to vote for candidate x or candidate y) can have all the info one needs within the output numbers but some polls aren't such cut and dry and the question they are asking (and the options available to choose from) can lead to faulty conclusions in the numbers. Good luck everyone!
Thank you for this show, I am trying to get a sense of market health to estimate how Heartland Express will report their next quarter. I believe you mentioned that spot rates are currently below contract rates and surpised to see that as I previously thought HTLD juiced their results years ago with high priced rush orders. Has the market changed or are high priced rush orders a subsegment of the Spot market? Sorry if I misunderstood, and thanks again for this market commentary.
A lot of people seem to be banking on Trump to save the day. Does anybody listen to Miranda? A half million too many trucks=not enough $ to go around. I'm all for Trump but don't expect a Miracle.
I noticed in one of your videos you talked about how Brokers and shippers are trying to reduce being affected by the fraud in the industry. One of the things you talked about was a virtual address. I wanted to find out how to get around having a virtual address if somebody has a UPS suite. What is statutory agent be sufficient using their address such as an accountant address or a home address. Can you help me with this without having to rent or own commercial real estate.
why do you have a banner w/. your email address? I tried contacting you thru one of your websites about your dispatching course. I never received a reply. some type of click bait?
I wonder with several large/national carriers hurting lately to the point of closing their doors and/or laying off drivers, how many of these fleet/company drivers are deciding to do their own thing with their own rig and going into the spot market? Wouldn't this increase capacity and potentially make the rates worse for spot market?
I find these California comments funny as I'm currently running a houston port to California run for Amazon (my guess is the Panama canal wouldn't take the boat the container was on)
💯 Like and subscribe, you won’t be sorry. Amanda puts in a lot of time, research and effort to provide accurate and detailed trucking updates! Happy 4th! 🎉
At the risk of being hated I like to learn about the trucking markets. However, have you or would you on occasion due some videos concerning the Expedited Sprinter markets maybe . I am not on the road right now however I think if I had a channel like yours while I was i would have made more money with this kind of information. You do a great job very helpful to a lot of people on the road Thank you
It amazes me how so much attention is put on rates, tender rejections, capacity and any other metric people can distract themselves with vs hustling to acquire their own customers. Tender rejection rates do not matter when you are addicted to the spot market.
LTL terminal in Atlanta I work out of was running low on empty 28 foot trailers last week. 3 months ago we usually had 50 empties available on top of the former YRC trailers waiting for a PM and getting new company E logos applied. Working tonight.
Absolutely fantastic. The continued support and efforts are more than appreciated! There is a lot of time and effort put into each of these videos. I hope that your audience appreciates you as much as most of us do! 😊 Happy and safe 4th to you all! 🎉
