TRUCKING HISTORY SPECIAL ERF B SERIES TRUCKS 

brings back memorys. i worked in garage for J H MYERS and my dad drove for AJA SMITH, i remember all local companys ie barnes an tipping, w g taylor etc, great trucks and easy to fix.

These trucks may be all but gone now but they're not forgotten tho, I still remember them all.

The b series was the back bone of many fleets just totally went on for ever it's nice to see them in there working environments with a few dents and a bit of paint missing covered in road grime it makes you think they must have struggled with the power even at 38 tones but as all ways they got the job done I think the white day cab out side of the factory was the first b series of the production line wonder if it still exists what an iconic truck

Great video,those two trucks at 6.53 bring back so many memories for me.They are from the B I C C from prescot merseyside, with the old runcorn bridge in the back ground.My dad drove for them till the closure in the early 90,s with 44 years service.He,s just celabrated his 87th year and as a kid in the 60,s and 70,s spent every school holiday travelling with him, needless to say i followed him into class 1....well what else could i do.

Really envious of anyone lucky enough to have spotted there old truck , I watched the video 3 or 4 times looking for mine without success (A467WFW). Used to be away in this truck all week and loved every minute of it , no phone, no tracker , no sat nav. Was an hard job but looking back it was a good job..

A truck that was iconic in 70s80s many we're still working in to the 90s just totally unbreakable did collosl millages might be wrong but I think they were the first truck to have hydraulic cab tilt favourite truck

I cannot understand why ERF sold out to MAN for them to close it down,I worked for a Manchester haulage company that only bought other brands when there was long waiting lists for ERFs. We had to order 2years ahead to get vehicles on time so it couldn’t have been for lack of orders,lots of order’s were for Gardner engine vehicles and that was a problem because Gardner had their own way of doing things which brought them down eventually,we did purchase the occasional Cummins E14 engined vehicle but we’re thirsty on fuel if not driven correctly. Most of our 16ton four wheelers had 5LW Gardner engines which were the ultimate in reliability, they also had six speed gearbox’s and Eaton 2speed axles which saved a lot of fuel.

Still my favourite lorry of all time, followed by the c series. Aaah, rose-tinted glasses lol😎

the b series was my favourite wagon,theres a couple of firms i worked for in your video,i wonder how many b series were made because in the late seventies early eighties every second wagon i saw was a b series,anyway once again it brought back great memories of my working life and of the erf ,thank you and happy new year.

Real motor was the erf better than the most modern technology today .break down today ring up fitters come from the dealers with laptop plug in .then says you'll have to get recovered wait another hour or two for it too arrive. The old stuff you got advice from your fitters on the phone. And 9 out10 times you got yourself going again and back to base and it was safe to do .but now with h and s drivers told to leave it for the fitters .erf every time
