Join me in this video as we go Trucking over Mont Blanc in the snow !
I wasn’t going to film this trip as we’ve just come back from Italy & posted the 3 part “Italian Job” but………things got interesting as we climbed Monte Bianco & started slipping & sliding at 44 Tonnes. The weather became a lot better over the next few days & we enjoy some stunning scenery in the foothills of the Dolomites.

Remind me 25 years ago when i got Milan from London by coach and was snowing heavly in the Italian side of Frejus tunnel with big surprise of drivers. Nice time and miss so much UK where i used to live for one year in lovely north England.

In America we keep our tag axle down in these situations if we’re loaded less chance of rolling or going off the road Unless it’s a steerable tag then yea I’d put it up but if it’s a normal one you want it down

the road layout differs quite a bit in every single country in Europe. The right lane of a German Autobahn is wider than the lane on a US Interstate, and roads up in Sweden even have an American kind of layout which is suitable for roadtrains

Beautiful mountainous scenery❤ our motorways are nothing like the foreign ones! 😊 any long journey is worth it for snow ski- ing. Love that sport, sadly my knees are knackered from doing my imitation down hill stunts!

This is Grahame in Holland, an ex Brit long-haul driver from the 70's and 80's. Great videos my friend and thank you for posting them. "Back in the day", albeit in the Summer months, I used to load Peaches out of Bologna and instead of using the tunnel I'd climb up over Mont Cenis Pass, (it's been closed to trucks for many years now), but that really sorted the men from the boys. I'd climb up the really tight hairpins on the Italian side, then before descending on the French side I'd park up, block the wheels, release the brakes, then lay on my back and adjust the brakes on the trailer and tractor unit. On the way down I'd select 2nd gear and take her down using the exhauster brake only knowing that I'd have a full set of brakes if I needed them. *And I'd do it all again tomorrow!

You have a very quiet truck when it's going into a downhill curve. Jake breaks are extremely loud and tend to startle bikers and small car drivers. Most towns even have special laws against Jake's or engine retarders

Another great video when you mentioned the old road coming back I was wondering is that the road they did the Italian job from and you answered my question thank's some great scenery especially the mountains and waterfall but as for driving over that narrow bridge and turning left I would have been bricking it as it looked like a get stuck job 😁😅

No, you generally get paid for the hours you work only. You then get an “overnight subsistence” which is usually about £20-30 per night. Thanks for looking in 👍🏽

basic hours, which are about £10 an hour in the UK, plus government top ups if you have kids, a spacko member of the family, relatives living abroad or made up gender status. if yuo shop in wanky LIDL or ALDI, living in a farty tin box would be luxury

Yes we do & yes they do however I didn’t need them fitting nor were they fitted but they’re there if needed (as required). Cheers for looking in 👍🏽

@The Breeze you are getting an excellent channel going. Good content. This is from a covid retired coach driver. You mentioned in a previous vlog about clandestines. I had 3 of the buggers above the engine. It cost me 3 hours on calais . I had 40 kids on Plus staff. Not good .

What is the weight per axle for your truck and the country regulations regarding weight?

Hi Fred, we run at 44T over 6 axles where permitted though some countries allow slightly less (eg Switzerland &Germany are only 40T). Thanks for watching 👍🏽

You can’t be a Steering Wheel Holding Zombie (ATA Qualified “Truck School/Mill”) and become a True Licensed Professional Truck Driver in Europe. I acquired my Class A CDL at the end of August 1988. The percentage of Steering Wheel Holders back then was exceedingly low; these days it seems that number as grown to 1in 5. Add to that the explosion of “Brake Checking Suicidal Morons” who think that Truck Drivers are supposed to be getting out of “Their Way” it’s a Miracle that the number of Fatalities aren’t higher.

Kid,when you get the experience you will know its illegal to go the Blanc or Frieujus without snow chains. You may have cost the company 4000 euros in recovery. Gracie at a. 👍

How come you are driving with your big trucks through small towns like these? I think you shouldn't be there in the first place, it is not only very dangerous for cyclists but these roads also are totally not meant for vehicles like those you are using here. To me this is the main issue here.

To deliver goods where they’re needed. I wish I didn’t have to go some of these places believe me but often the factories & warehouses were there before the towns built up around them.

Come on now Ook, not that old chestnut, do you really think that as drivers we enjoy all the hassle that's sometimes involved to get to these places, and did you notice how he held back from the cyclist before giving a wide berth to pass, top driving. Remember "If you got it, a truck brought it"

I used to do the Mont Blanc many years ago on Neoplan double deckers and then went back on the wagons doing the Blanc…always used to love the view as you were coming out of the tunnel and into Italy….loved doing European work but having a family and a couple of kids I gave it up to help the Mrs…..🥹…don’t regret it tho…….although night trunking to Tamworth isn’t quite the same..🤣….great videos bringing back plenty of memories…⭐️👍
