You never said why you went that way. Other roads more acceptable to semis. You working or sight seeing? Hail, I would have gone that route ,too. Beautiful. Yeah, I live in the Basin.
The video was so shaky and wavy, it felt like watching The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau. But you did well driving this challenging mountain road and I appreciate your vital service to our beautiful country as a truck driver. By the way, I’m 61 and planing on attending a truck driving school next Summer and hoping to become an OTR trucker by next Fall. Yeah, the truck was working hard and it got into my camera. I have bought some equipment that takes the shake out and they look good now. Wish I'd had that equipment sooner!
Years ago I drove our 36' Renegade motorhome with a car hauler trailer behind it with the wife's pickup on it on that highway to Cody, Wy. Long, slow drive.
It's been ages since I was on that road. I was on it once, with my folks, when I was a kid. Don't mind that I haven't been on it since! Lol. That's definitely a road you don't want to be on if there's even a HINT of snow coming in. There's a reason they close it every year. It IS pretty up there, but I won't ever travel it again. I remember being a little scared as we went up. That may have been the earliest sign that I would be afraid of heights and if I remember right, Mama didn't want to make that trip that day. I wouldn't mind seeing the country up there again...if I can figure out a way to get up there that doesn't involve driving that road or heights to get there. Lol.
Great road and your attempt to film was sincere. Might I suggest you use a Go Pro next time, it would give you much better stabilization. Much appreciation for your work and your efforts.
