In todays video we go over my true dual cat back straight pipe exhaust on my 2018 silverado 5.3 I give my thoughts on the exhaust after daily driving with it for over 2 years now!
Your truck, and exhaust is the absolute epitome of my childhood, and adulthood dream. It is without a doubt 100% what i will purchase when buying a truck. Love your content, and thanks for helping people like me with the amount of details of your exhaust system. i freakin love it!!!
I have a 2017 Denali with the 6.2 and I did cats back with 2 1/2” pipe with 90 degree to rolled tips and I get nothing but compliments on how it sounds! Best sounding exhaust set up on these new trucks.
Hey man, I’ve lived in my house with this car for 2 full years as of end of last month, I got a cat back true dual straight pipe on my 3.8 genesis coupe. It’s extremely loud, I’ve had cops knocking on my door at least 10 times
I had no idea. Ive seen this truck around almost everyday and ive been in love with it. I had no idea that he was the owner but man this truck sound absolutely amazing
Bro i grew up in Lawrence county alabama and the true dual straight pipe and true dual glasspacks exhaust is what i always wanted. I love the sound it produces. I just got rid of a 98 that had true catless straights.
Nice truck. I just got some exhaust work done on my 2000 GMC dually (7.4 Vortec). It had two 3" pipes, two cats, and one enormous muffler with two 3" inlets and only one 3" outlet. I deleted the cats, and replaced the muffler with a Holley Flowmonster with two 3" inlets and two 3" outlets. It's a straight-through (Magnaflow-style) muffler with two perforated pipes and packing. Now it's true dual exhaust. I can finally hear that 454 roar.
i freaking love the way it sounds. i got 4.8 02 gmc yukon with true dual cat back straight pipes. you just cant beat stright pipes with a performance muffler
Dude your vids motivated me,when I started watching this channel I had a Nissan hardbody then a Chevy k1500 and now a 2018 z71 reg cab because I always wanted one since I seen your videos with baby squat
I got a Mbrp exhaust for my truck and I hated the v4 mode on my 2014 Sierra so I got this little computer I put right above the gas pedal to get rid of v4 mode and I’ve never been more in love
I will fill you in on a secret about true dual catback exhausts for these 5.3s, run smaller pipe from the cats like 2.5" pipe to the end of the cab, then run 3" pipe the rest of the way and bend to 90s no tips at all. Will rap and echo really nice and sound very different
The Chevy Silverado 2018 is my dream truck I drive a 2008 Chevy Silverado 4.8l with a flownaster 40 muffer I just want a aggressive sound I don’t want that loud of a exhaust sound but love your exhaust
It’s call range active fuel management you buy them online they keep your truck in v8 mode all it does is it plugs into your OBDII port and if you have a warranty issue before you go into the dealer just unplug it I have it in my 2016 works awesome!
Been hearing it in recent videos sounds great man. I straight piped my old tundra no cats. Home owners kicked my truck out of neighborhood I was in. Had to walk 30 minutes to the house and 30 back to truck lol
This truck inspired me to get one of my own and I did leveled on stocks but not for much longer. I have a 3rd catback straight to y pipe and 5x18 tips. I live in Wisconsin and I’ve notice that even though it’s cold and the truck has sat over night when I start it up in the morning the idle dies down after about a minute. So I’m hopping when I do this setup it stays like that lol I get up early as it is. Have new neighbors lol frick it though.
Bro, I got a 16 Silverado with the 5.3 same exact exhaust setup as you but with 6” tips.... I am also in a neighborhood and I literally have to put a towel over the exhaust to help the loudness... I love how it sounds but I regret doing the exhaust only for the cold start with the neighbors 😂
@@Varelaboy561 honestly for what it cost to straight pipe from the cat's back at cruising speed it's super tame no drone but at WOT it sounds insane! But then again you can never go wrong with the borla atak just the price on it😅
My dad is worried about that happening to him with his truck I told him the neighbors can deal with it and he did anyway don’t regret it the truck sounds good
To each their own. Never been a fan of the wet fart sound myself of straight pipe. I prefer the tones of a quality cat back. However, it's your truck and as long ad you like it that's all that matters. Enjoy brotha
I’m in Texas I don’t have the straight pipes but basically no resonator no muffler no third cat and my truck do pass inspection 2 years in a row as far as the sniffer goes but is Not as loud as your is I guess not having the dual straight pipes makes the difference but I love the way it sounds yours
I just had mine straight piped. But it's not true dual and its loud af. Cant imagine true duals straight piped that's got me insane. But by the smile on your face when you got on it seems worth it.
I'm glad you like it. I can't hate on other people's builds but man I can't stand it. I got to have a muffler. I'm about to put a super 44 Flowmaster on my 18 Colorado. It will be two and a half inch dual in and out with a third cat delete. Cannot wait
Just cut off my cat/resonator on my true dual, still have the two cats after the manifold. My 2012 Sierra's computer was reading about 1.5 to 2mpg more when going 80mph. Normally its 13 highway but yesterday it got to about 15. Not sure how my state looks at it inspection wise but I'd assume if you don't have the o2's on that 3rd cat then you should be okay but I'll find out come 2021, The sound is awesome though but I need to finish my set up. waiting on my Y pipe so I can connect my pipes on the back end again. Fell off originally from rust lol
If you ever get rid of Larry, the next build should be a cat eye. 1999 Chevy cat eye, turn it into a bubba truck. It’s got to be a gasser though. I’m loving the vids lately.
True dual means you have two exhaust pipes from each manifold or header all the way to tip.. doesnt matter whats in between.. even if you got an h or x pipe in the middle as long as it comes back out to 2 pipes to tip.. cat back is cat back.. straight pipe is from header or manifold to pipe then to air, no restrictions in between like cats or muff.. good way to burn out exhaust valves tho running straight headers.. but thats just headers to air.. with zoomies they at least put some back pressure in it but yea..
Thats one thing I like about my 01 silverado, I don't have to run it through inspection again. I just renew my tags online. So my exhaust stops right before my cab lmao
I know this is an old video but I loved the sound of my muffler deleted 2017 Ram 1500 with the hemi it's louder than my charger daytona and sounds like a Hellcat on cold start
I always loved straight piped trucks but I live in Virginia and I don’t know any special mechanic that can just pass my state inspection with straight pipes
I put a magnaflo sport in place of my muffler left my rear resonator it sounds perfect on a cold start up but I'm always hitting my rev limiter the way I drive!!...
You do you man, but you might consider an X crossover. Chevy firing order fires two cylinders on the same bank consecutively so you can get a little back pressure you don't need. Just my thoughts.
I run super 10s and I love em, I had a 95 f250 with a 460 big block and ran straight pipes and that even scared the shit out of me, just tapping the gas it was loud as hell. Sounds good tho bud
Shouldn't come on unless you remove cats or an 02 sensor issue 🤔 just removing resonator and muffler won't hurt anything if you pipe & weld correctly. Just simple pipe and tips G. If you tuned that sum bitch rip those kitty's off open that mf up throw some headers on it 🤣 powaaaaaa
Great video as always. I was thinking about the cut out exhaust att. ( where can change from stock to loud at flip of a button) but I see why you dont have drone. It goes all the way Back . If I didn't get the cutout exhaust
@@andrehollid5413 haha my ass did notice it im speaking from my experience and no im not gonna put it on the dyno until i get a custom tune. That would be stupid
The drone is caused by a resonance, every airspace has a resonant frequency, when you blow into a bottle for instance you can get it to drone with the right air pressure. If you’re lucky, the cab of your truck won’t have a resonant frequency that causes a drone when you’re going say 60 mph, it might only happen at say 88 mph, or 100 mph, or maybe not at all, but as far as I know everything will have a resonant frequency.
