whale sharks have stupid eye sight in general. And those 6000 teeth are inside a mouth that can be upwards of five feet across. This information was imparted to me right before I got into the water to swim with three of them. Strangely enough, Safety Diver Dan was not as reassuring as he probably hoped he'd sounded when he told us not to worry about being swallowed whole and alive because their throats are only about as wide as a volleyball and also whale sharks have rocks for brains and probably wouldn't even notice us. ......................................which was all fine and dandy, unless you happen to become distracted by all the activity going on beneath you that you somehow don't notice the giantass shark not noticing you and both of you are not noticing each other so much tha-WHAM it ploughs right into you without so much as an "Excuse me" as you go tumbling down its back and off the tail, dazed and somewhat confused as to how a creature the size of a school bus can be so goddamn stealthy. But then you'll have an AWESOME story to tell and some even MORE AWESOME video to show all your friends because of course the camera guy saw it coming and elected to film it instead of...warning you what was....about to happen...(Thanks, Tony.
