I'm so glad that Monie is still known & respected in hip hop. She never received the attention, accolades or success that some rappers did but I'm glad to see she's had a wonderful, fulfilling life with her family & moved onto other things that help her pay the rent. Much love & respect to the queen Monie Love 💓💓💓
monie is definitely an icon, i love that she embraces that on true hip-hop stories. she looks real good, i heard her spit one of her old lines on another interview, i was like yeah nigga she still got. i was inspired by the beats rhymes and life documentary with a tribe called quest, and just to see how all of yaw'll got together and did some of the tighest concious collaborations took me back like this is real unity between black rap artist. (night train out).
Props to D-Nice for starting this series. There are many stories to be told throughout the History of Hip Hop & it's good to see that you are documenting them and getting it straight from the source. You and JayQuan are the Griots of Hip Hop Much Respect, bruh!!!!
Yeah, her & Slick Rick are British. It's crazy how artists from England can sing & rhyme masking their accents. Monie's still a champ. She could not have came at a better time! I'd like how she flipped it on Kane. If he wanted her that bad he should have went after her. 1 for Scrap lover. "Ladies First" is forever a classic. And shot out to D Nice TV for blessing us with these True Hip Hop stories.
Its funny how accents can come and go depending on who your around and talking too..when I go to Ny my DC accent fades because I've been going there for YEARS...Come back to DC and they say I sound like a NYer
the English accent, and New York accent are so cool! i'm so happy she is doing something for herself that she didn't get a chance to finish when she was younger.
I wanted to marry Monie Love when I was 12 years old. It's nice to see she is a progressive mom who has aged beautifully and still holds it down for hip hop.
i like how her london accent comes back in particularly when she's reliving times past, when in fact it would have been a whole lot stronger.. good stories well told, what a class act
I had the biggest crush on Monie Love, First it was Tootie from Facts of life then Monie! That Brittish/New York accent just makes me melt!!! But she gave praise to Roxxane Shante and Shante dissed her in" Big Momma"
Lovetron Lawrence Type in public enemy live in uk 1988. She is speaking in the beginning. She was in London and had a heavy British accent. Both of Slick Rick and Monie came in their teens and gradually through the years the New York accent became mixed with the British accent. She still has it someone what.
The more and more i hear you speak Miss Love, the more i respect u.. Your positive energy shoots through the Richter scale! I'm a tru believer of your words.. stay strong..!! klashwon:)

I really enjoy this interview. Very happy to see Monie Love is doing good since the situation with Young Jeezy at the Philadelphia Hip Hop radio station. I hope she continues to make great music. Also, she had a baby! Keep up the work Monie!
Man I love Monie Love! Her accent is soo cute, smart , beautiful and intelligent I agree with you guys! She could definitely rap real topics, I wish she was still rapping but she had other things in planned for her future. But she still is a legend...
