You are an absolute motivation to me. Every time I’ve seen a black doctor they put on this fake personality but you prove that you don’t have to change yourself to be a doctor. You are so real man.

@@katenglish1 It does. When most people that don’t look like you come from more prosperous backgrounds, old or new money, etc, you aren’t very inspired by that. Seeing people who look like me, most coming from poverty and starving towards the end of the month, it’s inspiring when someone shows that suffering is not all we will ever see.

I really enjoyed this video! Its refreshing to see someone keep their good personality and not get jaded, I start Med School next fall and already Undergrad seems like its jaded the students around me. I get grief for being jovial and maybe not "professional" but you dont have to be robotic and emotionless to still know your shit and help others. Good video man! Im gonna drop a sub!

I have an at-home coffee recipe that tastes like ice cream! You need an iced coffee maker. It's super easy, just put some grounds in the middle container and let it steep in the fridge with water in the pitcher all night. It's a much gentler flavor with higher potency than coffee because there's no cooking involved. The beans really get a chance to marinate and the product is very strong! If you're not lactose intolerant you can use regular milk but I add equal parts cold-brewed ice coffee and dark chocolate almond milk, with a dash of vanilla creamer adding to taste.

Thank you for this! I’ve been debating between being a pediatric psychiatrist or a L&D nurse. But this video was so helpful! Especially when you said “you’re surrounded by positive people” my family tells me that for this field you gotta be really string mentally since you do see patience that are mental ill and are surrounded by their energy. So thank you for this!

I have a military background. I was a Hospital Corpsman in the Navy. The first thing we learned was everyone bless red. I've worked with a large diversity of people and I'm willing to be treated by anyone with the education and qualifications to do the job. If I need help, I need help. Best wishes for a successful career in which ever specialty you pursue. You have a good attitude and that alone will take you ahead of others.

I personally do not like the pancake analogy because I feel like you should just get whatever you need to done before the certain time but you shouldn’t need to get it all done from what you missed the previous day because there is such thing as biting off more than you can chew🤷🏼‍♀️ I know that’s not how everyone works but that’s how I see it

How did you get colleges to look at you ? I have a 3.6 gpa but not one college has even sent me a email or a flyer ? Any advice ?

If u have a 3.6 in high school, try doing very very good on ur sat/act. That will distinguish you from other students. Also try your hardest to keep ur gpa at or higher than 3.6 for the rest of ur high school career. Finally, if u aren’t already, try doing sports in school. U don’t have to do anything hard, any sport will do. All the things I’ve said can vary depending on what u wanna do once ur done with college tho. Secondly, Colleges won’t speak to u until u are either getting very good grades or doing really good in sports. They assume the more average students will apply for themselves (and there is nothing wrong with average since pretty much every one is average once they get to college).If you are a senior you should start applying to schools, but don’t waste ur time and money applying to reach schools that are way out of ur academic level. Research the colleges u think u can get into and see their requirements and average student GPAs sat/act.If u match their requirements go for it. I did all these things when I applied for college. My gpa was good, but my act was not the best. I got a 30 on it which is decent but truly not enough for big UCs. However I did manage to get into a good program near my house and now will soon be becoming a doctor. This is all the guidance i wished someone had told me in highschool, hopefully u can use it to potentially have a good future

I’m in grade 10 and I would love to go into psychiatry!!! Do u talk to patients like a phycologist? For example what if the patient has schizophrenia...like do u talk to them about what’s happening before u decide to give them medication or not? Lastly do psychiatrists get their own office?
