I am NOT a morning person, and am hard pressed to get out of bed before 8am, like I did this day.
But time spent at Forerunner Farm (Mocksville, North Carolina) with my mom (and with Forerunner's many rescued and retired horses) has been precious, and I was happy to revisit her very happy place.
Watch for a bit and it will be obvious that I literally rolled out of bed this winter morning - for quality time with my mom, in the fresh air of the country, while soaking in the powerful good vibes of beautiful horses and ponies.
I'm really excited to be moving to a small coastal mountain town soon that has quite a large equestrian community, and so I asked my mom if I could make a trip to Forerunner again with her, wanting to solidify some basics about horses. My mom barrel raced as a kid, used to volunteer at a therapeutic riding center, and has been volunteering at Forerunner for years, continuing to feed her heart and soul with time spent with these horses.
Horses will always remind me of my mom ...of taking her horseback riding in Malibu, grooming them together in my home state of North Carolina - and of the true love I am so very lucky to experience in my relationship with her.
