Not only is 6 Maß/steins the equivalent of 10.5 pints, but the beer is around 6-7% depending on which tent you are in. I'm seriously impressed with Sophie's ability to drink! Also, having been to Oktoberfest, I can totally see how 1) 2,000 seats would be a small tent, and 2) You could destroy the tent without anyone noticing. The place is absolutely chaotic.

Almost everybody I know who has been to Oktoberfest said they can drink 5 or 6 Liters. I tried a pub crawl 3 times now in my life. Always with the goal set to 12 pints. Never did one of our group finish this task. I feel like the Mass is not equal to 2 pints.

Ohhh David....he's just so incorrigible. I really wish to know who was the pursuer in the Victoria and David courtship. They both seem incredibly lovely, genuine people. However, their concept of social cues and such just kinda boggles the mind. I'm American....but I think they're my favorite couple.

He wrote about their courtship at length in his autobiography. There's an audio recording reading done by David himself on RU-vid if you google "The End of the Beginning David Mitchell". It's all things sweet, endearing and sad at the same time, but does have the happy outcome we all know of.

I watched it and it made me admire and love them both so much more. Victoria had to somewhat be the pursuer because David doesn't actually see how irresistible and adorable he is to females. A trait most women secretly love about a man. I wish them great love and success in their marriage and careers.

It’s very good and I’m very happy it was recommended. I think David mistakingly thinks women are as superficial as men and undervalues his intellect. I relate to his upbringing and anxiety a lot and am very happy he stumbled into something so perfect for him!

Well, here in Argentina we have 1 litre bottles of beer as the standard. We also have smaller ones, but no-one really buys them. Also, when you go to a club, they pour the entire 1 litre bottle into a huge plastic cup (so you don't go around smashing bottles into people's heads), so it is not uncommon to end up drinking up to 4 o 5 litres of beer in one night.

No, Maß has a long 'a'. If it had a short 'a' it would be spelt "Mass". A good example of that are the words "Maße" and "Masse".

@@maiNmusica Sorry but you're wrong in this case. Usually the rule you stated is right but it doesn't apply to this specific word. Maß is a Bavarian word and is pronounced like Mass. It is something most (northern) Germans don't get right because of what you mentioned. The "scharfes S" ß usually indicates a long vowel, however not in this case. Aber keine Sorge, wie gesagt: Selbst die Zuagroasten und Preissn müssen das in der Regel noch lernen, wenn sie zu uns nach Bayern kommen. Liebe Grüße aus München.
