Brought my friend @darrienlien9508 out to catch his first rockfish. We had a great time and his reaction was priceless. www.fishermans... ***NEW Bumper Stickers + Frames***
Im from Sonoma county and fished Goat Rock, Bodega Head and alot of other areas. Moved to Arizona about 9 years ago. Your videos help me get through the hot days of summer. Thanks for all the awesome content. Damn I miss catching all my fish and eating.
I did not realize this whole time he's been calling it capezan but it's actually called a Cabezón (Spanish for bigheaded) Didn't notice until he put it up on the screen 😅
The worst part for me is when I lie down at night after a day on the water, my body continues rocking just like I was still on the boat, or my mind does that at least haha. Gj though, great video.
The reccomendation algorithm prefers quantity, so for the channels growth 2 uploads a week might be preferable. Wish it worked off of subscriber enjoyment though
Pro tip: Grab a couple of buckets of sat water while you are out to rinse the fish in after fileting them. Do not use fresh water it changes the flesh.
They make it tough to catch salmon. Trust me, a barbed hook would make the landing closer to 100% than 50% with the barbless. When you look at the effort to get to a salmon, hook up and land it, the $15/lb wholesale price for King salmon isn't that bad. Of course, it's great fun to say you did it yourself.
There's sometimes a depth restriction on rockfish. So if you have rockfish on board then you can only fish for salmon at the depth that your allowed to fish for rockfish.
@@user-wr3vt8uq4s it's stupid that Commifornia makes you fish barbless for bottom fish if there's a salmon on board. Landing salmon isn't that hard with barbless.
I love to take out friends who dont fish as often as I do, and see their reaction when they are catching good fish ! I catch fish all the time but getting to see the excitement of others who dont fish as often is priceless and ALWAYS makes the trip worth while !
Matt being too nice when Darrian ask "How you keep catching those big ones?" Lucky just lucky. Nope I know for sure that's Experience!!!!! Experience my friend!!! Experience.
@@darrienlien9508 Omg its the man, the myth, the legend. I saw all the episodes you were in so it was nice that you were able to land a nice ling!!! I got scarred for you for a moment when u put your finger in its mouth. LoL
@@darrienlien9508 Try OliPop Vintage Cola. It taste like Cola from the 80's /90's with 4g of sugar. It also has prebiotics. Our stores here in WA have a hard time keeping them in stock.
I respect that you bonk the fish and bleed them, a lot of people are so quick to just throw them on ice or in a bucket of water. We need to respect the fish!
Very nice to see you in person last Friday in HMB I would love to go fishing with you someday. Nice cabazones. I have not caught a cabazone for a while. Thanks for the tip of removing the bones. Have fun on your coming up camping/fishing trip.
This was a nice video, good job, Darrien was having a blast lol he said "i almost said i cant go cause its a small boat and im gonna get sick" hell ill take a small boat over a crowded 80 footer lol
That's awesome Matts! I love Darrien's excitement when he pulled up that lingcod. As for your posts, I definitely choose quality over quantity. The shot of you guys coming back in was a nice touch. Looking forward to the street fair in July too. I want to grab that license plate frame and maybe another hat and shirt.
Cabezon in relation to species and flavor. Is close to a sculpin. Sculpins come in various sizes. Mostly start out in the bay. Some bay sculpins can grow larger in size and head out to sea. They can also be mistaken as a cabezon. If large enough. They way to tell the difference is the cabezon meat will usually have a bluish green tinge. But a sculpin will have solid white meat. And won't taste as good as the cabezon either. The lingcod is probably much closer to an eel as a species.
1. Cabazon (Scorpaenichthys marmoratus) IS a species of sculpin within family Cottoidea. It's not "close" , it is a Sculpin, but it's the only one of its genus within the family. 2. The color of the meat has nothing to do with its identification, the green or blue tinge of the meat of some Cabazon is a byproduct of that fishes diet, with crabs as forage being the suspected cause of the green tinge. I've seen Cabazon that have snow white meat, and I've seen common sculpin with green meat. It's all about what they are eating. 3. The Lingcod (Ophiodon elongatus) is NOT "close" to an eel, (I swear where do some of you come up with this crap?) It's a member of the greenling family and like the Cabazon being the only member of its genus in its family, the lingcod is the only member of its genus within the family Hexagrammidae. (The greenlings)
@@stinkyfungus Then what makes a lingcod brown or aqua? I have been told brown lingcod are mostly the northern species due to the temperature of the water. And aqua lingcod are more southern variety being closer to a tropical environment. And of course they both migrate far to the north and to the south. Of course what they eat will have an effect. So there is a question for you, Did the cabezon evolve from sculpins? Or did sculpins evolve from the cabezon? Did we evolve from amphibians? And will the lingcod eventually evolve into dragons? There is so much that can't be explained by a book. Just like humans, much of life on earth is came to being from hybrid procreation. It's not crap. Some things you have to just learn on your own, Don't rely on the books than man made. There are greater books written in heaven, That humans can't read. Why so many wars are made is due to the scribes that only have their noses in a book. And not having experienced Life in it's reality. Leading others they teach into destruction.
@@benjaminpadilla3824 I just did not know why. We have the only fishing hole I have seen in 20 years but it has good fish. We call it Long John Silvers.
The quality is already there my friend! Always has been since I've been watching. Not everyone has the voice and character to succeed on RU-vid. You are the man! Philosophy D has it as well. I know he's busy with school etc and may have other plans but if he increases his quantity then he will be on his way as well!!
I've been watching you for over 5 years now! Still remember the few personal tips you gave me to help me heal my UC!! Its inspiring that you are still going strong and Inspired me to start up a new RU-vid channel of my own!! thanx for all the content over the years!!
