These people life me up. The Avett Brothers are are a gift to us all, they are True Grace. Only by Grace do we get lifted up in this way, the words and sounds and love and life these men and women bring it a gift. I'm grateful for each note they play, every song they sing.
The live version of this song made me just burst into tears. I am dealing some demons in my life and his lyrics hit a nerve. The message gives me hope and courage.
suberbanindle - they write music for this exact reason...to break through all the thinking and get to the heart....hope things have turned for you. Namaste
I am dealing with alot of demons now too. Music is one of the few things that make me happy anymore. Their music brings out every emotion in my body, and I LOVE IT. KEEP YOUR HEAD UP
"I can not go on with this evil inside me. I step out my front door and I feel it surround me! Just know The Kingdom Of God is within you, even though the battle is bound to continue." AMEN!!
Oh Lordy! When you all get going together I cannot sit down! Gotta dance! Great song as always! Thank you for standing up for the disrespectful treatment of women!
Chris, I love the new direction of the show. It's been a part of my life for so long. You are fantastic and I'll be fan for as long as this keeps going. Thank you.
A very talented group of musicians with some great songs.. They all play with deep passionate feelings and it really shows. God bless them for sharing their good words and uplifting songs with us.
Saw them in concert in 2019 in Greensboro on Halloween night. It was such a kick ass show. I was a little disappointed that they did not play this, but I lost my freakin mind. THANK YOU TO THE BAND
I heard this show on the radio, naturally, and it is so good to see how serious this man is about the lines he sings. Am I not more than - well i AM a man, no one beleives it and this is the true sadness for me. Thank you so much folks for the folk music!
Unfotunately I am "the dying man" and can not go to shows like i used to....well i used to put on shows with my new acoustic instruments yet was so good, called far and away the best ever seen, beyond music and more of a religious experience when i played my electric sitars.... so I was destroyed.
Gordon Anderson you use RU-vid pretty well. i think you're capable of attending a show. these guys are more than available. Stop making excuses Gordo:)
note to NSA and all the sodding goons who hide behind the billion dollar a week Federal budgets for "disrutions operations"- I am compelled but not defeated, still, you win, I can not go on, your use of "The 4 D's, Deny, Disrupt, Degrade, Decieve" have succeeded in you goal, to "destroy" me. And I used to be such a great string player, as you know... this is why I had to die, slowly to give you the greatest pleasure, and assuage your guilt over the coming cataclyzmic sea level rise that WILL end civilization (if any) as is tradition. TRUE sadness, ought to be true soddness.
Love the performance. Fantastic music from one of my favorite groups. The director calling the camera shots and whoever set the angles needs work. Hard to watch.
I love this version of the song, but is it just me, or can you not hear the cello at all? Joe is going crazy and I can only hear the violin and the double bass.
She's not off-key at all, but all the backup singers are singing in full-voice, and the mix drowns out the lead vocals a bit. I understand it's probably their intention, but it would sound like "true harmonies" if they would use falsetto and backed off the mic a little bit instead of using vibrato and belting it out (which higher vocals tend to do). Not sure but I'd wager a guess hollerin' is part of bluegrass.
