One of the greatest comeback stories in history. Harry Truman earned the hell out of that victory, the man bled passion, and didn't even originally want the job. That is truly something remarkable, in and of itself.

By far my favorite president. Ordinary with an honorable balance of honesty, humility, compassion, and courage. All the ingredients needed for a great leader.

Right President at the right time. The Marshall plan, the Truman doctrine, formation of NATO, desegregation of the military, recognized Israel first when it became it's own state, so much from a man with high moral authority. One of America's best Presidents.
@@powerfulstrong5673 FDR set the standard with many great programs. That said, with FDR the man made the office. In Truman's case, the office made the man.

Harry Truman was lucky that the people would even let him into the White House, in spite of the fact that he won the election, the way the story was spun. My mom would say, "Don't Gimme That Smear!"
I would have done the same thing as did the Trib.Dewey had a HUGE lead early.If areas in this non-Roosevelt election responded even somewhat to their historical patterns,it was Dewey in an Electoral College landslide.Still,he could have won with Ohio,Illinois,and California despite losing the popular vote by 4.,This election proved-along with Trump's- that it resembled Real Estate:LOCATION,LOCATION,LOCATION.
