Trump’s election math problem: Some in the GOP are not willing to blindly follow Trump

Say, tomorrow it's my 70fh birthday. I grew up in Rural North Dakota. All I can think about is what Trump said about our military. Does he remember Vietnam War. In my little city in North Dakota we lost neighbors, friends and family. Anyone who would vote for someone like him! Get in line for your butts to be kicked. God bless America. We owe these men and women who gave theirs lives. To be lead by a man with great Character amen. 😊

COUNTRY over Party, if there ever was a time the time is NOW.

I’m in my 50’s and I’ve always been independent, but since I’m pro-choice, I never voted for Republicans. Until Covid, I was the voter who tuned in to politics in the months before a presidential election, did my due diligence to decide how to vote on the candidates and issues. After I cast my vote, I’d dust off my hands, consider my duty done, and go back to normal; ignoring politics for another 3 1/2 years. Here’s the thing. No matter who was President, nothing really changed much in my life …sure the economy had its ups and downs, I watched our brave troops follow their orders, and though I didn’t always agree with the direction, I always respected the servicemen and servicewomen risking their lives for our country. But life went on as usual for the most part. This election is NOT that. If Donald Trump is elected President again, everything will change. For everyone. In the world. I don’t think I’m being an alarmist about this. SCOTUS is already undoing the progress made for the past 50 years in the rights of women and minorities, voting rights are under attack all around the country every day. Trump will never willingly leave office again, he’s already tried to stay in power illegally and in violation of our Constitution. We will lose NATO, something that has kept Europe stable since it’s inception. Everything will change. And not for the better. We cannot afford to lie to ourselves and pretend that our votes don’t matter. Not this time.

I'm a lifetime Republican and I didn't vote for Trump the first time, because of his past criminal and moral issues! I will be voting 🔵 for the first time in my life!!

I'm more worried about those who don't like Donald but will still vote for him anyways simply because of the "R" next to his name, as well as those in swing states who won't vote at all because they somehow think Biden is equally as bad. If Donald wins in November, it won't be because more Americans liked him over Biden, it'll be because not enough of us cared to go out and vote against him

I worked at the facility that hosted the 16 RNC. There was a very vocal group of delicates who were dead set against Trump being the nominee, saying he’d single handedly destroy the party. And here we are. It’s time to put country ahead of party.

As an American capable of thinking, I would never follow Trump, much less blindly. GO VOTE! Check your registration and your polling place! Do something and volunteer! Join a volunteer group to help encourage people to vote and to inform them on Democratic candidates! VOTE EARLY! VOTE BLUE!

Sarah, I have voted for a Republican in many years but I thought the same. My family was part of the GOP since the late 1800s. I assumed the individual integrity of these Republicans would pull us through the trump's horrific behavior. I have never been so disappointed at so many in my life. I learned something about people that was very sad.

I have so much respect for people who stand up for what’s right, and for the truth!

I am a lifelong Republican I'm also 72 years old and I'm transgender. I did not vote for Trump in the first time he ran back in 2016 I knew it was a big mistake back then I voted for Biden given that there is no one else I feel that is in a position to run this country. There are those of us out there that Trump loves to call rhinos and we are Republicans and we do not want this man.

I feel good about my fellow American family, who's standing and supporting democracy and this constitution. Americans who are siding with the law and justice. Integrity over lies and corruption.

It’s incredible that some voters are facing an existential crisis in considering a vote for a Democrat with different political views vs voting to sympathize & empower a dictatorship, unravel the constitution, endorse white nationalism, etc. This isn’t politics as usual. The stakes are massive and eclipses petty policy differences.
