Trump's remarks are vacuous. inflation bad. I'm going to fix it by tariffs, which will actually make inflation worse by increasing import costs, which will be passed on to the American consumer. Taxes bad on billionaires, so I'm going to tax the middle class and the lower class and spectacularly increase the national debt as I did in my previous administration.
@@Szminsky It was a compromise to get the lower population states to agree to ratify the constitution. Back then the states were much more concerned about their sovereignty.
No it isn’t. It’s a United States. Why should the rural states with farmers have to be disadvantaged by disproportionately urban centres? You would make a terrible political scientist?
Notice how when pressed, Trump just says he never heard of the guy. This is how his first term went. He never did wrong, never took responsibility. Yet half of Americans are ready for more. I cannot fathom it.
reminds me of the TeamFortress2 video called "meet the pyro" ..he sees everything as filled with fun and love but in reality, everything is a burning hellscape. /watch?v=WUhOnX8qt3I
I can't understand why the American people think that tariffs somehow impact the country sending the goods. The effect of Tariffs on the " exporter" are minimal, if any. They may not sell as much but, they don't pay the tariff. Tariffs will only push up the price of those goods to the consumer. It's the American people that will effectively pay the tariffs with higher prices at the point of sale. Tariffs are just another form of taxation. A stealth tax in effect. It will take money OUT of their pockets not the other way around. Very odd reasoning.
I’m always intrigued by this type of argument that seems to be more done by left leaning people…as you can see in the example above, Ozzie here starts strong with the usual liberal cliche ‘I can’t understand’ which they think will make them superior. But then they casually slip in ‘they may not sell as much’ as if it’s a throw away line…that’s the point, the threat of not moving as much is a big one to any country!
@@bmcb3064 So you don't dispute the fact that American consumers will need to pay more. You are more concerned with the pain you will be able to inflict to another country and its population. You ARE a Trump supporter. "Cut off your nose to spite your face" thinking!
@bmcb3064 Not on essential consumables that America imports 365 days a year, every year. The effect is minimal to the exporter and certainly within their percentage of market fluctuation. And, just to add another corrective point, I'm as conservative as you can get with finance and attitude. However, I don't like people being misled. Especially by people that have been bankrupted 6 times but, who profess to be " good at business". Whichever way you dissect it the American people would pay more and the effect on the exporter would be far less than anticipated or believed. If America imports "X" tons of whatever, over an ongoing period and there is no domestic equivalent at a similar cost then America will still import"X" tons of that product over the same given period. Tariffs were designed to stop overseas Manufacturers undercutting a domestic equivalent to give the domestic equivalent a chance to compete. Because of that, Tariffs are also a convenient way to leverage tax revenue. However, if there is no domestic equivalent or that equivalent is far more expensive then tariffs become purely a stealth tax on the consumer. There's no "left wing socialist thinking" here, on the contrary, just an understanding of how markets and consumption of product works.
@@akmpolsen Yep most people think Trump is the greatest business genius who ever lived, despite the fact that he inherited his money and has bankrupted everything he's touched.
America republic was more based on the Spartan electorate than the Athenian democracy. The founding fathers were landed men who found direct democracy a kin to mob rule.
…except that in ancient Athenian democracy it was literally only men (and only some men) who got to vote. Still I take your wider point that American democracy is more suspect than many modern democracies, and Trump’s MAGA has made it much worse.
You don't know much then. The US is a Republic of States who agreed to a Federal government only if they kept these rights. If it was one vote one value no-one would care about the smaller states or campaign in them.
And for good reason, Greek democracy didn't last so long. Roman republican democracy lasted longer and better fit the way the US had already developed-superseding, not lagging.
There are millions of Americans who remain dismissive of Trumpism; many have woken up. By the way, this guy you invited is a Big Trumpist, not quite an impartial posture.
@ stevenmcvay5193 There are people that would say that your statement is an arguable point of view. GWB wasn't exactly famous for rationality. However, it has to be said, that in comparing Trump to GWB then GW comes out at a positively Einstein level of intellectual ability. Your point is amusingly accurate for many, many reasons and is well taken 😊
He's one of yours, Scotland. Speaking of which, hows it going over? I see some of you guys still speak english thats cool. I noticed crime went down substantially with the arrest of Tommy Robinson. But then again the only crime in your land is speaking out against tyranny.
Voters are turning to Trump because of 20 percent inflation since Biden was inaugurated. The democrats claim that they look out for the working classes but they don’t.
Trump has anger and dissatisfaction on his side. What does he propose? Tariffs, more chaos and economists saying he will make the deficit even worse than Harris (whose proposals also promise to add more debt than we can afford). It's a choice between bad and gawd awful this year.
It's likely that every dollar Harris spends on child care and business start-ups will return more than those invested. Trump will cause a recession with his insane tariffs (sales tax) and labour shortage due to the deportation plan.
More chaos? Have you seen how many wars there are since Biden has been President. Btw I would love to see Harris go on Joe Rogan for 3 hrs unscripted. Impossible
Trump and Elon are proposing a whole set of policies designed to promote economic growth, including deregulation, lower taxes, and an end to reckless spending -
Closing the border which we did in Australia in 2015. Developing US energy. Restarting the Keystone pipeline. Stopping men in women's sports. Commuting the charges against people who refused the covid vaccine and then lost their jobs, especially in the military and police etc. Offering them their jobs back. Seeing if he can get them back pay. Preserving the dollar as the prime currency. There's a few. c@@phil00075
It’s ridiculous that in the US they campaign for more than 18months, but almost demand they have a result within 24hrs. Wouldn’t it be better to only campaign for 6-8weeks and allow plenty of time to count the votes. Is waiting a few days or a week that difficult?
In Britain the results are known within 24 hrs the US should be no different. There is no reason why the length of the campaign should be related to the amount of time it takes to count the votes.
If we take "too" long in the US to tally votes, the Trumpidiots will start crying foul, "it's a rigged election." Actually, they'll cry foul however long it takes.
I’m not saying they’re related. I’m drawing the comparison. The fact is, technology is mostly great, but not always. In the case for democracy which affects everyone under a democratic government for their entire term and beyond, real physical paper ballots that can be counted by public citizens under public scrutiny is a far safer way to have a free and fair election with an accurate result. Sure it may take some time, but true democracy needs engagement from the populace to keep it running properly. Using electronic voting it’s too opaque and too easy to manipulate large numbers of ballots to total a final result. Faking real paper ballots in large enough numbers to change the result is far more difficult. A lot of countries that tried electronic voting have dropped it and reverted to the old paper ballots because democracy must prevail over corruption. ‘Black Box’ voting has been manipulated numerous times, it’s too easy to hack by bad actors.
The comments here reflect the audience of this channel and the symbiotic relationship between channel and viewers to create an information bubble. The comments are all one sided. By those who's anti-trumpism allows them to ignore the weakness of Harris as a candidate .
The interviewer certainly isn't. Bangs on near the start about numerous racist jokes being made by numerous speakers at Trump's recent rally.....and then she doesn't provide one example.
Winners of the Nobel Prize in economics are backing Vice President Harris’s vision for the economy, calling it “vastly better” to that of former President Trump. “Harris’s economic agenda will improve our nation’s health, investment, sustainability, resilience, employment opportunities, and fairness,” economic laureates Daron Acemoglu, Esther Duflo, William Nordhaus and 20 others wrote in an open letter. - BBC
@louiselincoln6557 kamila harris is part of the biden team.... it would be more of going backwards economically, more financial pain for more americans, and more censorship of free speech, and more pushing woke agendas, minority group agendas and the agendas of big business.... more illwgal immigrants and crime..... and more of the same in ukraine.
Insane! A total narcissist and very very dangerous to democracy oh yes and a convicted felon, hardly presidential material - I don’t get why these factors are overlooked - he will cause ww3
Prices are up 20 percent since Biden and Harris were elected, even higher for items that impact lower income people the most, such as food, rent, gas, and car insurance.
Does anyone else think its weird that in a country of 350 million people each presidential election comes down to about a thousand voters in three or four states?
No one cares about people who always vote Democrat or always vote Republican so those states electoral college votes are assumed. Only swing votes in swing states ever decide the election outcome. This time, more than ever, very few swing votes needed to change the outcome. Probably whoever wins Pennsylvania 19 electoral college votes will win.
@@STHFGDBY Each State has districts per population. Residents vote in that district. The popular vote is sent to the State's commission. If a state has 51% from electoral, that candidate wins that State with that number of electoral votes (Pennsylvania has 19 for example). All States vary in amount of electoral. The 5 big states (a lot EV districts) make up almost 2/3 of the votes. 270 total electoral wins the presidency. Even if a candidate has 25 states (say 200 EV total) and has NO big EV states, and the opponent has 20 states with 200, 2 big EV states can take that number from 200 to 230 real fast and the opponent is still at 200 or maybe 205+
Did you ever go to a puppet theater as a child? No question that you focused and did believe it was the puppet speaking. But now you are an adult and should see who is behind the puppet, or the comedian, or the messenger.

Why can't your journalist pronounce Kamala's name correctly. Seriously, isn't correct information the absolute foundation of good journalism. Not ok to mimic Trump's deliberate mispronounciation, which any intelligent person knows is a dog whistle for racism, if not downright rude, which is unexpected from a British person.

People need to deal with reality in the 21st Century, even if a company "makes" a product in this Country, it does not mean that every component involved is manufactured within our borders. In 2022, app. 70% of semiconductors were made in South Korea, Taiwan and China. They move the manufacturering plants to to this Country? Because the actual "Cost of Living" is higher, the cost to manufacture them goes up. That drives the price up when they sell it without increasing anyones paycheck.
The point with high tariff is that the imported good will cost more and will either discouraged the company importer from buying it from the exporter or if bought and sold in the US, most consumers will not be able to afford the product, hence, it will not sell. Or if the US company manufacturing the product in another country, i.e. China, and brings the product to the US, the tariff will cause it to become more expensive and hence, unattractive to sell in the market. However, if the US government encourages companies to move back to the US and give them incentive of a tiny fraction of tax, it will provide more jobs and the cost of the product might become more attractive and saleable.
Harris would have to be one of the worst candidates to have ever been shoehorned into a Presidential race. It staggers me that she has gotten anywhere near such an important position in world politics. Trump does nothing for me either.
Well done, O Master of Civics. Puerto Rico is a territory not a city. It has a governor not a mayor. His name is Pierluisi and he's a Democrat. See you next Tuesday... or Wednesday.
The MSG event was not “controversial ” simply because a dumb comedian made a bad joke. You are selectively reporting the news. The Trump campaign has denounced the comedian, and you ignore all the great speeches from Elon Musk, RFK Jr, and Tulsi Gabbard.
Pennsylvania is going for Harris. I live in Lancaster Co, PA. The support for Trump was much greater in 2016. Frankly, Trump had greater support in 2020 than he does now. People are tired of him. I don't see the race as tied at all. Jan 6th doomed him with many of the traditional GOP voters he had previously gained by winning the GOP nomination in 2016 and 2020.
