Donald Trump arrived Thursday at a New York City courtroom for closing arguments in his civil fraud trial, which could see him lose the right to practice real estate business in the state where he was born. The prosecutor is representing the people, not only the banks. The judge was going to allow Trump to make a closing, but Trump was going to have to agree not to introduce any new testimony; or make a political speech. Trump would not agree to that.

You obviously did not read the limitations. Yes, that was one part of MANY limitations. One being that he wasn't able to bring up the name of the person who was prosecuting him! The limitations were far more outside of what is usually granted for any closing statement.

Trump's attorney was late filing a response to the judge so the judge disallowed Trump from speaking. The judge wanted him to stick to facts and he doesn't want to.

Yep. The Judge wanted to allow Trump to speak and only wanted to make sure Trump followed the law for what is allowed in closing arguments (ie not introducing new evidence). This simple request to follow the law was too much for the geriatric orange man-baby 😂

@GT-mn3bx By claiming to be richer than he was, he obtained loans on better terms (especially interest rates, but also the size of the loan and its repayment schedule) than the actual risk to the bank warranted. The amount of "ill-gotten gains" can be calculated and disgorgement demanded. It is worth noting that he dealt with the wealth management department of Deutsche Bank, rather than the commercial division, which might be expected to be more streetwise.

That's a wrong guess. The Supreme Court made Trump give up 10 years worth of his tax returns. They were squeaky clean. He has the best accountants in the world, and knows that he will be audited EVERY year by the IRS. The governments appraisal district sets the tax value of the property. They don't look at loan applications to do that. They look at comps.

He claimed sq. footage he didn't have and then tried to include all the elevator shafts in the building where his apartment was on one of the higher floors. He over estimated the value of his properties and then turned around and minimized them to lower his taxes. Not just one year but many, many years, he has been doing this. He's been found guilty and they are only deciding the amount of money and consequences for his actions. Anyone else would be fighting this from behind bars.

I suppose on that basis he belongs in prison but I think a mental health setting would be better for an ELDERLY person and the public needs to know what he really is. Maybe check on what judges can really do with INDICTED persons before you make BS statements about it. Trump is not, at this point a free citizen. He is indicted, has rules of behavior According To The Law.
