My issue is that you cant have everything your way, you can be a proud muslim who is british, does he forget the number of muslims who from india fought in ww1 and ww2, so what reasons did they do it for as they actually volunterred and were not even obligated to fight. Don't forget that Salahuddin Al Ayyubi swore allegiance on the Quran to the Fatimid Shia Ismaili Caliph in Cairo instead of the Sunni Abbasid Caliph in Baghdad. Many of those today who are criticising the independent Muslim MPs who took the oath of allegiance to King Charles, would consider that to be absolute treachery by Salahuddin against the Sunni Abbasid Caliph and the Sunni Muslim World. He did this in order to work in the Fatimid government and eventually become commander of the Fatimid army. He then dismantled the Fatimid empire from inside and returned the lands of Egypt back to Sunnism establishing his own Ayyubid sultanate pledging allegiance to the Sunni Abbasid Caliph. The Ismailis are considered to be more heretical than Twelver Shias (and that is saying something) and by many, to be outright infidels. Salahuddin was a political mastermind. There is nothing wrong with the independent Muslim MPs saying the secular oath to King Charles. It's just politics. If you want to be consistent, then you should criticise Salahuddin.
This comparison is quite absurd. Saladin and his uncle Shirkuh entered Egypt by force. Despite their differences, Saladin was bound by an oath to Nur ad-Din, his warlord. Essentially, the Fatimid Caliph was in a weak position, and Saladin's intention to remove him was clear. Saladin even began the process while the Caliph was alive, pledging loyalty to the Abbasid Caliph. However, the Fatimid Caliph passed away. This situation should not be compared to MPs entering an election from a weak position without a clear intent to overhaul the entire system. Comparing MPs seeking a "ceasefire for Gaza" to a man who seized power by force with a clear plan to dismantle the existing government is misleading.
