No kidding! James said he peaked with that so it's all down him from there LOL! I sincerely hope he does more bits like this. He has a great voice and is just plain hilarious.
His voice - very good! However, he isn't playing the piano in this parody. I am sure he can play to some degree but he 100% isn't playing that (hand movements don't match up with the notes being played but he is trying to pull it off as best as possible - to the trained eye you can tell)
look, it's funny and he can sing. i don't know that that's he on the piano, but if it is, then all it means is that he can play well enough to accompany himself with it. but for fuck sake, if you think that this demonstrates that someone is "an amazing musician," you must know nothing about music and are insulting all the people to whom that term actually applies. an example of which would be someone like eddie van halen, RIP.
He's genius, and what a voice. I suspect he rather than staff came up with this, though I could be wrong...he is just so uber creative and it seems so natural. How something of this caliber was created so quickly amazes me! #VoteBlue
We love him here in the U.K. too, if you haven’t seen it already take a look at a show he wrote and starred in here called “Gavin & Stacey” This is what really kick started his career (for me anyway), I watch this over and over and the humour still hasn’t worn off! Keep him safe over there 😊
He started on Broadway. He's trained, he just enjoys comedy and left acting and the theatre but he still has his voice and still keeps up with singing now and then
Who's just found this after watching it referenced on A Late Show? While you watch this imagine Willy Nelson watching it and then sending the link to Paul McCartney 😅
I did see this when it first came out, but also came back again after watching James & Stephen talk about it on Colbert’s show. That story about Sir Paul sending a blanky to James’ newborn son? I iz ded from the cuteness!
This is a new art form: an extremely clever and well-executed parody that is too beautiful and mournful to be funny. It checks all the boxes for comedy but it’s something else. All I know is that I keep listening to it.
Same here, I didn't know about this till he was talking to Stephen the other night. I'd seen a few of the "carpool" bits, but didn't get what a brilliant singer this guy is. Totally awesome.
I've been a HUGE fan of The Beatles, Paul McCartney, and all things related to them for many MANY years. This was the most respectful (to McCartney), honest, heartfelt "parody song" I've ever heard. Really well done Mr. Corden.
Well, after Stephen Colbert interviewed him, I had to find this clip. I am amazed at the beautiful vocal and piano playing talent! New respect for James Corden! ❤️❤️♥️♥️
@Fireball XL5 maybe you can't read or autism has blinded you I said he did a great job "OUTSIDE" the pandemic. Maybe it's because you can't understand simple terminology very common of people inside the USA outside the pandemic means outside of doing a shit job with the virus.
I just realized Trump has at least one positive trait: he's a muse for comedians. The late night writers and comics are turning out some gold right now. I knew Corden could sing, but was he really playing that piano? If so, wow. By the way, did anyone else watch this twice?
I have watched it several times. And tomorrow no doubt I will watch it a couple more times. McCartney's original is one of my favourite songs, and I love well-done zipper/parody songs. And I want to see this lying dog-faced pony soldier thrown out of office; if ridiculing him helps get that done, I'm in.
Hey James, I don't know if your reading this or not, but that was honestly BEAUTIFUL! Like I knew were in a band before and you do so many carpool karaoke's, but this, well this is a MASTERPIECE! I'M shook, like WHAT!!! YOU've got to make more parodies, or make your own songs NOW!!! LOL
@@jdj830 Excellent job too. I played piano, and he is really talented!! Voice too. Only a fool would say otherwise whilst they are looking directly at him playing the piano for realz!! 😉👍
Lord have mercy, does that guy have talent! I can't even imagine how many hours of hard work he has put in over his life to become the entertainer that he is today. Brilliant.
At the end of it, all I heard was world wide applause, all I saw was a standing ovation and all I felt was a tear in the corner of my eye. Awesome, James and the band. Hello from Australia.
Wow. I thought this would be funny, but I actually cried. This was done perfectly. Thank you for saying what my heart has been trying to say, but in a much better way.
I don't think he does, if you watch "James that tune" with Elton John or Taron Edgerton he clearly states he never learned piano. (Maybe quarantine gave him an excuse to do it though)
Patricia Mitchell The fact that this is a parody, makes it even more remarkable, knowing you should be laughing, but it’s so good, you just listen to his voice. (There was a pinch of reverb and delay, certainly not anywhere near the tractor trailer amount they put on todays performers) and he didn’t need any auto-tune. Straight up killer vocal!
This could have been a hilarious parody, but James went for a serious tone and that was the right approach. We should seriously see Trump as a threat to people's lives and our democracy. Maybe January will be a time to laugh, I am hoping to listen to this song then, with tears of relief in my eyes.
And it's whispered that soon, If we all call the tune Then the piper will lead us to reason And a new day will dawn For those who stand long And the forests will echo with laughter .... Stairway to Heaven Led Zeppelin ...
Arty C It’s McCartney’s song, for sure, but there certainly was something about James’ performance that is reminiscent of Elton John. I had the same thought as Therese.
That was great. Baby, I'm amazed. I'm usually over the dial at Seth, but James' voice entranced me. Stephen King learned how to write and James Corden learned how to sing. Let art & beauty reign!
How on earth am I JUST NOW HEARING THIS?!! Thank you, Stephen Colbert, for sending me here. My previous admiration for James Cordon has flipped over into rabid fanhood. Also the story about Willie Nelson texting Paul McCartney about this? PRICELESS! :D
Wow! I was expecting to be laughing about this song. But I realize their's nothing funny about it. James was singing straight from the heart truthfully. About that dysfunctional diseased mutant in the oval office. Well done James, well done your voice is amazing! Keep up the great work because we are all listening! 👍😊🎉 💖🗽🇺🇲🌹
If I didn't laugh, I would lose my mind. Grown adults/trumps racist cult, in support of a Hitler wannabe. It's insanity. I didn't enlist in the Army to protect ALL Americans and our allies to see them dying at the hands of lies and stupidity.
@@jjp7914 It didn't make me upset because ppl supported Trump - what makes me upset is how they blindly support him, even after his lies regarding various things have been exposed. It reminds me of how many of the Germans blindly followed Hitler, and turned their eyes from the atrocities that were happening. My 1st instinct was to chalk it up to ppl just lacking basic intelligence, that they weren't capable of knowing any better, even when proof of his lies were smack dab in their faces, ppl with no backbone that follow the crowd - followers, not leaders. But, that can't account for all of them; it doesn't add up mathematically. I'm just at a loss...
The words were perfect, the piano playing was great and James your voice is terrific. You said everything so many of us are feeling. I'll keep praying Trump gets dumped on November 3rd.
Wow James, you have some pipes man! Sure, you sang great in all your carpool tunes, but I guess I never heard you belt it out on your own. Oh, and yeah, kudos on the song also. I love these and the founding father's, a chuckle these days is hard to come by. Thanks man.
