My granny died at 96 during her midday nap, whilst she was working on the translation of one of the hundreds of books, she has been translating during her life. My mom, a journalist, finished it for her. She was still taking the stairs, when youngsters were holding the elevator for her, and was also still working when she died at 94.

People tend to group "the elderly" as this homogeneous category, when in fact there's a huge range of functioning...Mick Jagger is still performing, dancing around the stage, and he's 80. (Of course there's sexism too; Madonna is still performing at 65, but a lot of people vilify her and say she should quit b/c "she's old")....I could go on and on, but I wish our society was more discerning, and less dismissive of people past the age of 50 or 60.

Narcissistic personality disorder is almost always linked to childhood trauma, it locks the sufferer mentally at the point of trauma and stops them truly growing into adulthood. Don't waste your time pitying them though, narcissists like their mental illness. Trumpenstein's orange monster is no average narcissist, it is a psychopath. I worked for a psychopath and the patterns are identical to Durr Trumnpenfuhrer's, including the micro expressions. When a malignant narcissist/psychopath gets caught out you can see their narcissist's mask slip and you can see the rot at their centre, the evil flows from their eyes. When you watch Trumpenstein's orange monster ignore it's air accordion playing, ignore it's word salads, concentrate only on it's boat race, you'll quickly see what it is as clear as an azure sky in summer. Everything it does is to draw peoples' eyes away from it's, it knows without distraction it is an open book.

There is a genetic disposition that gets inherited and massively increases the risk of getting dementia, but there's no guarantee that the disease really breaks out in every individual who has the disposition. Even a really bad guy like Trump deserves the basic level of fairness to be judged by his own behavior and not by his late father. And there is a lot of behavior to be be judged for sure.

So not necessarily something they can control. And now overlay those things on a person like Trump, who already was erratic to a certain degree and aggressive.

This psychologist did not mention having a sense of humor as a sign of robust mental health. President Joe Biden has it in spades, as evidenced by 1) wearing the verboten tan suit to honor Obama, 2) raising a water glass single handedly to poke fun at Trump's struggles to raise a glass with both hands, and 3) let's not forget his sliding on the aviator glasses as his Dark Brandon alter ego takes over. Trump, on the other hand, seems to lack a sense of humor. Sure, he's drawn a few guffaws whenever he's assigned a demeaning nickname to one of his opponents. But that's bullying, not true humor.

We all have something to deal with. Husbands grandmother was mentally sharp as a tack but she had an orthopedic disease that was eating her bones away. His display of erratic (confused, angry, blaming others, telling lies, committing crimes) behavior doesn't need a neurologist, psychologist and a medical doctor to know what is exactly going on with him. Nursing Home or RCFE are better suited than of the White House.

Another thing about Biden's State of the Union talk is that he didn't have to fall back on mere repetition of the same old phrases when the moment called for an on-the-spot, quick ad lib response. He didn't resort to sloganeering. His command of language at all times is far more sophisticated with a much more extensive and rich use of vocabulary.
