I'm a lifelong Democrat, but I could listen to these two all day. Scaramucci is remarkably tough, a clear communicator, and calls bullsh!t on both sides. I never imagined I'd appreciate the words of a Trump staffer this much. But taxing the rich isn't going to stop them from investing. What the hell are they going to do with their money if they don't invest? Anthony is just parroting the rich propaganda message that wealthy broadcast so we don't tax them. It's the sequel to "trickle-down economics," which is also a smoke and mirrors lie.
Maybe you should expand your horizons and get out of the echo chamber a little more. You might be surprised what happens when you don't follow what the corporate media tells you to think.
@@JANSENM9 Well, that doesn't relieve them of the obligation to pay taxes in the U.S. But, if they want, they can leave the USA with their money, renounce their citizenship and become a citizen of somewhere else, and permanently piss off. Assuming some other country would have them.
Frankly, Trump is such a dastardly man I would vote for a ham sandwich over him. Kamala is doing fine...but even if she makes blunders...at least she is not a psychopath.
I agree - on a spectrum ... narcissism --> malignant narcissism --> psychopath. The diffs between malignant n. and psychopathy: There is some over-lap between narcissism and psychopathy, but they are not the same. Psychopathy is composed of strong vitality and self-interest and a functional lack of feeling. That is, unlike narcissism, where feeling is denied but continues to have some sort of 'shadow' or 'reactive' effect, in psychopathy, the person is 'freed' from any guidance function of emotions. In psychopathy dominance and getting one's way are paramount, and how one is viewed by others is not important for its own sake, but only as a tool. Psychopaths are most upset by not getting their way, while narcissists are most upset by being devalued or ignored. Narcissism can be present with depression or 'collapsed states, while this never happens with psychopathy. But psychopathy and narcissism may occur together and form 'malignant narcissism', which is the florid form of narcissism most recognised (and feared) in popular culture. Sadly, not in Alabama where I live. Women do what their husbands tell them to do. They wouldn't even notice the difference if Project 2025 comes into play.
Taxes go to the government to spend on the country. People have to realise this obvious fact. Taxes pay for infrastructure, (roads, bridges, buildings, repairs from floods and fires), railways, Medicare, the list is long. Taxes keeps a nation running.
They do, but governments don't always spend money wisely. As a Brit I have no problem paying 40% tax but when it's wasted, as billions was during the Covid crisis, you begin to question those making the spending judgements.
@@matthewgee8122 "... but governments don't always spend money wisely" Neither do individual citizens, anyways. Also, something else that Scaramucci apparently doesn't realize is that without the existence of the State and the social contract it guarantees (and the market it creates), he wouldn't make even a tenth of what he makes now, so 52% plus investment taxes means he and his venture/cripto capitalist bros are actually getting off easy.

Every where I go people are watching FOX News. In many areas FOX News is simply the news. Harris/Walz needs to flood FOX with TV ads as much as possible.
That makes as much sense as Trump putting ads on MSNBC. You can't win over partisans from the other side. You have two viable options: appeal to the moderate independents, or rally a base of ideologues.

I love Anthony but I think he is wrong about the taxes. His argument sounds like trickle down economics which only the rich non tricklers actually believe has worked for anyone but them.
Yep. He, like all the rest of the investor class are just out for themselves, the rest of the workers be damned. And it’s not an “aspirational country”. Nobody believes that Reagan-era get rich nonsense anymore…

True enough, but people know that Trump will bring tax cuts and deregulation, and they will experience an economic boost from that. His approach to spending, pollution, trade wars, foreign affairs, etc, might be bad for the economy in the long run, and the current inflation probably isn't the fault of the current administration, but most people aren't keen to those things.
I think Trump is a tool. He's up for sale. I am sure that JD Vance is his Vice President for a reason. Peter Thiel as well as other very wealthy influencers told Trump that he will be choosing Vance. Vance is there to make sure their interests are being taken care of. That's why you're seeing Trump changing his mind on crypto currency. Trump just wants to stay out prison. As long as I draw breath, I will never understand why people will vote for Trump. Every single day he tells lies, he slams the injured or dead veterans by calling the suckers and losers, he is an alleged racist, womanizer, was a buddy of Jeffery Epstein (disgusting), he wanted to date his daughter, he is a CONVICTED FELON, his stance on women’s reproductive rights is very concerning , he has corrupted the Supreme Court in his favor, he has allegedly incited an insurrection that resulted in death (court case pending on that), and that’s what we know. Seriously??? I know that nobody is perfect, but some people want this “Orange Jesus 🤡 figure sent by God” to be the leader of the free world. Wake up! Trump is only interested in avoiding further criminal prosecution and jail time.
Scaramucci's complaints about taxes are actually sickening. Does anyone think that if he's taxed on his investment gains there will be any qualitative change in his life? And any talk about those taxes remaining as investments bringing more jobs and creating wealth for other people is pretty naive - most of the money invested will go to top executives and shareholders anyways, while as taxes it will actually be used to promote social programs that will help those who are most vulnerable and move the real economy. It's unfathomable that so many think Trump will be best for the economy. How many failed businesses does he have? You can't treat our economy, both short and long term, as a simple transaction. You can't just keep giving rich people tax cuts, not stopping spending and losing jobs and have a healthy, inclusive economy. I don't know how much more Kamala can say about the economy than she is. The economy is great; cost of living is not, and that is her main focus in addressing the economy. Unfortunately, too many people believe the garbage that Fox and the other talking R heads spout that is just not true. Everything you're saying, Anthony, is that people stay close to Trump for their own personal wealth. Nothing about ideals and what is good for this country. Many retired Republicans are staying silent simply because they don't want to mess with their cushy jobs and payrolls. It's not even about being Republican, because many of them detest Trump and what the party is these days. But they stay quiet. That this is acceptable as a way of doing business is sickening and certainly not patriotic when we're talking about the health of this nation. Trump not only wants to win, he needs to win to stay out of jail. That more people aren't disgusted by Trump being Trump when he gets particularly vulgar and demeaning is frankly scary. It's what has many of us looking at overseas property. Being a risk taker, as you refer to it Anthony, appeals to the lowest knowledge and misogynistic of voters and that there is so much of it is disheartening. You normalize his horrible behavior and low character. THAT is the problem with all of this. Overseas with our real allies - at least at this point - Trump is an embarrassment. His lack of knowledge or care about foreign affairs will ruin this country. Republicans have not stood up to his missteps, and the Supreme Court has basically declared any President a dictator. That is dangerous. Question. You acknowledged that the Press covering everything that Trump says and does, no matter how awful, is partly why he does so well. Ratings are more important than truth, character and honesty. So why was this podcast so heavily slated to him? Aren't you propagating the same climate that allows such an awful individual to be doing so well? I agree with you, Anthony, about how Kamala should prepare for the debate. That said, women always seemed to be judged differently if they're a bit aggressive. She has a finer needle to thread., especially since the nation and the press have normalized Trump's behavior. I have a real disrespect for all of the politicians that Donald has attacked, has targeted their families and wives, and literally bow down to them without any response, and give zealous defense to Donald. Can we please talk about men getting where they get by getting on their knees?! Loyalty to the Constitution should be far more important than loyalty to a Party. Parties have gone off track throughout history and our laws and constitution is the constant... at least for now. Sorry so long. You inspired me. :)
The entire country is racist, but the negative view of her isn't primarily due to race. Over the years she has not done a good job presenting herself as particularly competent. The DNC was a good step forward for her in that regard, but she's slipped from that in recent days.

Anthony is the smartest political commentator in existence right now, even if he does keep saying "flout" when he means "flaunt." There is no one in politics I'd rather have a long lunch and a couple beers with than Anthony, and that includes current and former presidents, governors, or members of Congress. He should be called The Trump Whisperer, he understands how Trump thinks and operates so well. I can't get enough of these two because I've always admired Katty Kay as well. She's probably the only one smart enough to hang with Anthony.
Love the podcast! I'm just at the beginning of this conversation and I had to comment after listening to 2 things. 1. Anthony talking about taxation on the wealthy. 2. Katty talking about Trump's edge on the economy. I was fortunate to retire with a pension from the state. It's decent, but not huge. After a year in retired status, I went back to work. Decent money. Not a ton, but 60k combined with my pension, I was happy. My tax bill last year was just shy of 7k! I live in New York state. I don't want to hear about any burden on millionaires and billionaires. There is a fair way to tax them without harm. 2. Just because Trump has a perceived edge on the economy, it doesn't make it true. There's a reason the race is as close as it is, even though one candidate is fluent in policy, and a decent person, and the other is a 34 time convicted felon and rapist. It shouldn't be close, but it is. These discussions imply that the vast majority of the voting electorate are basing their decisions from a place of nuanced understanding. And yes, while many people, myself included, have to make kitchen table decisions every day, I'm equally sure that those giving Trump the credit are likely doing it out of supporting HIM. Perception has NEVER BEEN reality. Perception has always been perception. I cannot normalize Trump in any sense of being an American president. You say economy. I say Project 2025.

It always seems odd to me that Scaramucci will call his ex-boss a dysfunctional narcissistic maniac in one breath and then constantly give him the respect of calling him MR Trump.
Interesting that rich ppl aren't "bad at maths", just "couldn't lie straight in bed". The 52% NYC thing is marginal rate after $25 MILLION in earnings. At $1 MILLION it's 10-15% maybe. Yes there is slim possibility of me having 100millions of dollars in US nowhere else If I do I should be willing to pay taxes so more people can have the same access to more affordable schools, healthcare etc
I think it was reverse psychology regarding the mic. The democrats know that if they had not asked for this, then he would have. Now he will refuse, and this is what Kamala would also prefer.
You talk about the economy as if it’s separate from Capitalism. Capitalism is the reason why we have high prices and an affordability problem. Politicians can only do SO MUCH without changing the fundamentals of capitalism. In all honesty, WHAT CAN SHE DO FOR THE ECONOMY? What can ANY POTUS do?

You either have a bad accountant or are lying about taxation. It is common for corporate profit to be paid out through capital gains and thus, it is the most repulsive domestic policy that we allow fat cats to be taxed at only 15% when their secretaries and teachers and plumbers get taxed at 2-3 times that rate typically.
I don't think Kamala should not spend any time on debating the lies and bullying that will come from Donald. She should do maybe one laugh or one joke about Trump per opportunity but then talk about her own agenda and not let Trump set any agenda.
There is something really broken in a country where the nominee for President can demean the two most accomplished women HC and KH. Moreover, there's a been staggering *24 point swing* to Kamala since June among 18-34 year olds, an 18 point swing among Hispanic voters, and a 17 point swing among black voters.
Reality check. Unrealized gains OVER $100,000,000. Enough for 3 generations to not work...ever...in their entire lives at over the median personal income when invested conservatively and after paying realized capital gains taxes on the proceeds. Labor should not be taxed at more than single digits, if at all. Money making money should be at 30% plus. This country was founded in response to monarchy and lack of class mobility. The current tax system creates a natural (and accelerating) consolidation of wealth in the few. New aristocrats. The rich will burn as soon without changing this rigged system.

What AS doesn't say is that he never pays 52 cents on every dollar because of the thousands of tax loopholes he uses NOT to pay that rate. Please at least be honest Anthony. LOL
I'm subscribed because Ben Meisalas from Meidas Touch Network recommended to do so. I love Anthony's NY perspective, and I also watch Katy Kay everyday on MSNBC'S Morning Joe! Keep up the good work !!
Trumps tax via tariffs will cost the average person 3K per year. Welcome to the club. I'm already paying 1k/month for steel tariffs. Not sure how tariffs on raw materials help USA manufacturers.? I'm sure someone has an answer.
I work 2 jobs and I’m on food stamps. Will be 56 next year. But what I love about America is knowing that if I pull my bootstraps up, I can become who I want. When I want. That’ why were the greatest country in the world. 🇺🇸
Is your post supposed to be a joke, or are you just not aware of your own cognitive dissonance? 2 jobs, on food stamps, you're 56. Obviously your bootstraps aren't working so well. Nor is that American Dream thing. If you aren't joking, this is very sad. Best wishes to you.
Scaramucci's boxing analogy is wrong, Trump might be used to sparring every day, bot Harris is an experienced trained fighter, she is also a million times cleverer than tired, turgid Trump.
