We already have background checks , that has been proven to not work, especially when the government doesn't do it's job. You're ignorant on the basic issue and what laws we even have. Furthermore, you shouldn't be barred from your natural born human right if you have not violated anyone else's rights, and if you have payed your debt to society. If you are so dangerous that you need to be deprived of your basic human right to self defense, you shouldn't be released anyways, and if you are a good enough of a person to pay your debt and be released, you shouldn't have your rights taken away.

The second amendment states that because it’s imperative for state security that everyone have a gun and be well trained, that everyone will have the right to keep arms and that right cannot be infringed upon. In 1700s well regulated meant ‘well prepared to perform’ or well trained and militia referred to any and all able bodied individual citizens capable of providing defense against any entity that may threaten ‘the security of the state’ When referring to several hundred year old documents you have to refer to the meaning of the words when they were written, not how you choose to interpret it now.

There are a few liberals who have said that, but it is very unpopular within the Democratic Party and I don't think any person of importance in the Party has ever said that. Beto O'Rourke wanted to ban just assault rifles, and (as pointed out in the video) he quickly lost the Democratic Primary. But Fox and right wing media are always telling them the government will come for their guns soon, so they believe it. Every time I encounter this, I ask how they managed to keep their gun when Clinton, Obama, and Biden have all supposedly confiscated all of their guns.

before the 1980's, gun laws were a lot more relaxed, and this kind of crime was not a thing. do a little research on the history of US gun laws, and you should seriously ask yourself, with all of the bans, restrictions, background checks, serial numbers since the NFA of 1934, why are shootings happening more? Back in the 30's you could order a machine gun and 100,000 rounds of ammunition and 100 round magazines to your door without any background check or government knowledge or involvement. Why were there so few mass shootings then? Something in culture changed, because gun laws have gotten stricter and stricter since 1934.

Legally doable (7.62x39 mm) for most deer whereas the AR (5.56 mm) is not. Most deer hunting require a bullet above a 5.56 caliber, it's considered too small to ethically drop anything but varmints, and of course, people. It **is** allowed for feral hog because they're a plague, but it's a terrible choice and causes long, drawn out suffering.

So riddle me this. When it comes to gun ownership per 100 people the US is #1 in the world. Canada is ranked #7. When it comes to safety the US is ranked 129th while Canada is ranked 12th. How does one exactly measure whether Canadians ARE more nonviolent overall…. without looking at the crime rates and gun deaths? Less Canadian gun deaths bc they’re nonviolent people, which you can tell on account of their low gun deaths? People are the same no matter which country you go to. @@hash8169 Or that there are better guidelines and safety regulations in place to make sure people with a criminal record or mental health issues are banned from owning a gun. You also have to do gun safety course before you can purchase a gun. Little things like that make a big difference. By the way if you think Canadians are not violent I guess you don't watch hockey. Also in WWI both sides agreed the most brutal, most feared and savage fighting force was the Canadian Corps. Even recently the head of NATO forces said his perfect solider would have US equipment, British discipline and Canadian training.

@@thinkharder9332 yeah cool pal. I can disassemble and reassemble a M249. Don't know what I'm talking about? Okay pal, buckle up. Without serious modification to the standard barrel length and stock it is an awful home defense weapon. The length makes it harder to handle around corners without proper training. The .223 ammo it typically uses punches right through what you're aiming at and has a tendency to also punch right through your drywall thus hurting your own family/children and/or a neighbor. A pistol round and shotgun pellet does not end up killing your kids in the next room and usually stays embedded in your intended target. As far as shotguns go they are great as long as you're not using slugs. Slugs will also end up punching through what you're shooting and anyone in the next room. Nah, I prefer pistols and shortie shotguns for CQC/aka home defense. Home defense ain't any different than having a gunfight in a Vietnamese tunnel system and you didn't go into a Vietnamese tunnel with your M-16. You'd be a dumbass if you did.

An AR15 is designed to be an assault rifle. An assault rifle is a lightweight individual weapon that can suppress enemy fire while you maneuver to kill the enemy then occupy the enemy's position. There is no other reason to own one. I first qualified expert with a GM hydromatic M16 in the early 70s. These weapons certainly should not be in the hands of untrained 18 year old civilians. An AR/AK with a 5 rd magazine is just a mediocre small game hunting rifle. What makes these weapons so dangerous is the high capacity magazine and the proliferation of them. Someone can be a "law abiding" citizen up to the second before they start shooting people. Anyone that wants one, can easily obtain one. Anyone can and have used one of these weapons of war to kill masses of unarmed civilians. Innocent folks that just want to live their lives with out fear of going to the Mall, school, church, work, hospital, bar or concert. It's a sick government that does not try to protect its citizens from these murder weapons!! Saying the 2nd amendment absolves you from responsibility to proliferate these weapons is a demented interpretation of the amendment!!

Go do some more research the AR-15 is not assault rifle. An assault rifle is a select fire rifle that has a pistol grip and a detachable magazine that is a chambered in an intermediate cartridge. Most mass shootings are done with handguns so I don't know why you're acting like a professional? You do not know what a weapon of war which is dumb because it's in the name it has to be used in military conflict you don't like the m4, akm. The Second Amendment is not absolute it doesn't anybody can own a firearm only the people which is law abide citizens but the part you're mixing up is it says the right to keep and bear arms should not be infringed that's the part that is absolute it's in the wording. Yes they do have access to high-capacity magazines the most people use 30 round magazine because they're light cheap most people ain't walking around with 50 round drum mags so I don't know why you keep bringing them up?

This has been disproved by tests many times. Not to mention that there is ammo designed for different things. There is ammo designed for maximum penetration and there is ammo designed for maximum expansion, or fragmentation that stops quickly. But on average the 5.56 round is not any more likely to over penetrate than a 9mm. In testing the 9mm is actually more likely to go farther thru things like drywall and typical building materials.

I used an AR15 for the last 2 years for deer hunting in Michigan, and the deer died within 50 feet of where I shot it in the heart. No meat was destroyed (so you can't argue it's overpowered), and the deer died quickly and humanely (so you can't argue that it's underpowered). You leftists are so ignorant and unwilling to look at facts, it's insane. Simply go on youtube and you can type in "deer hunting with AR15" and you'll find thousands of videos of people killing animals (deer, hogs, coyote, prairie dogs, etc) with the AR15. He has an AR10 (.308) for large deer and elk. Those are his favorite above the many bolt action rifles he owns. For home defense he uses a 1911 pistol and I like my AR15. Different strokes for different folks. 🤷‍♂️
