True, but: New York Election Law 17-152 makes it a crime to conspire to promote or prevent the election of any other person by illegal means. And the illegal means in this case include falsifications of business records, which become felonies due to the attempted election tampering.

Not only that, but days after he got out on parole, Trump had Bill Barr make up a new “rule” to get the parole system to pressure Cohen to cancel his book launch, as his book made Trump look bad. When he refused, they sent him straight back to prison to serve out the rest of his sentence - in solitary for months. The parole officer immediately retired, and NO PAPERWORK for sending Cohen back has ever been disclosed to his lawyers.
