I’m not a black American, but I heard what he said and I was absolutely shocked and quite frankly stunned and frankly he should not be in the US Congress!

Apparently he thinks we’re all stupid.

Why use Jim Crow as an example at all??

When Al asked of him is: "What did Jim Crow have to do with the marriage rates of blacks?" He went completely blank.

Imagine you’re 45yrs. And never experienced Jim Crow, arguing about how things were under it, with a man who lived through it.

Bragging "Under Jim Crow, the Black family was together" is like calling slavery "full employment."

My mother and father are 77. This genuinely hurt their feelings. My Dad said we lost a lot....and a lot of people just so this young man could sit there and say this to someone who actually lived through Jim Crow south.

It Did Nothing for Black Families! He is in it for himself only!

He said during Jim Crow , not in spite of Jim Crow , which insinuates the Jim Crow era as a positive, like "in the good ole days of Jim Crow , black families were together"............GTFOH dude

Like the Reverend suggested, what the Congressman SHOULD have said was something like, "marriage rates were higher FOR ALL AMERICANS prior to the 1970s." The statement that the Congressman made was similar to the statements that were inserted into public education school systems all over the South DURING JIM CROW by the United Daughters of The Confedercy that tried to make slavery seem less harsh than it actually was by saying things like, "slaves were happpy during slavery". 🤦🏾‍♂️

When I heard him on National television, I took it upon my brain and I’m pretty smart and intelligent woman that he was insinuating during that timeframe that Life was better for Black people who were married to Black people which was very shocking to hear him say that, because according to history which we were taught history in our family, and even in our schools and Chicago is just as of late, they do not want TO teach history in the schools by telling the truth to the children because they know their parents are caught up with trying to live their youth through their children instead of growing up and teaching their kids N the proper form of living N this world>. I did not take his comment personal. I took his comment as an insult to even associate the two together like that was the best of times in America. Do you know anything about sharecropping or anything which come across as being a very intelligent, black man, and personally, we don’t care who you’re marriedtoo, I pray you and your wife are teaching your children history.

Jim Crow laws inception beginning in 1865 is a period of time used by historians and economist who track societal trends which ended with the new era beginning with civil rights laws in 1965 and the policy of socially engineered integration. The latter and more modern period have been said by many to have destroyed the black family through welfare subsidies driving out black men and causing female dependency on the government and thus single households. The eugenics philosophy of planned parenthood targeting the abortion of black babies and the destruction of the black middle class by taking desegregation and replacing it with coerced integration which caused blacks to not depend almost exclusively on black business which was the case during Jim Crow and now taking that business to white doctors, dentist, banks, etc. and thus business ownership besides destitute ghettos is now the norm. It's the insidious and ugly truth people won't tell you about the statistical devastation of the black community beginning after Jim Crow. No one is saying Jim Crow was benign, it's genesis and execution by the Democratic party was anything but.
