Just an FYI. I work at a County Healthcare Business. As part of the O.R. department. We were searching for a way to cut cost and the ultimate results would be to run a more cost saving and employee satisfaction improved unit. We hired a person with absolutely no medical back ground(BAS Nursing/ Masters ect.) but he had a Business degree. The results were needless to say a huge failure. Like this current Trump lead government I see the approach is to run the USA like a business. The USA is about the people for the people not a business. The US has a business man without no experience trying to run this country and not to mention, his entire family that have no business in the WH! Lets see how this plays out and to what cost to the USA

I think it's very interesting and highly relevant to explore why seemingly normal people make decisions against their best interest. These people are still Americans, their viewpoint cannot be merely dismissed. We must find a way to come together to prevent anything like this happening again and also to join forces to turn our current situation around in 2018.
Why are these voters not asking questions about all the actions Trump has already taken that will inevitably effect them? If Russian oil gets on the global market, coal mining will be effected. If Canadian tar sands oil gets on the market, coal mining will be effected. I live in a State to which a lot of that coal is taken by train, loaded onto Canadian tankers, shipped to Canada where it is burned and turned into energy for the US. If natural gas and/or oil is able to replace coal for energy, that coal market will collapse. Coal is not useful as a substitute for carbon based polymers, the base for plastic manufacturing, and coal mining will be effected by that. Trump has done little to sustain coal mining except make it easier for miners to be hurt on the job with less help from owners, unions and government. He has allowed Canadian tar sands to be shipped to US plants that will have to deal with the toxic remnants. The oil extracted will not help coal miners keep their jobs. Trump has pushed through a Health coverage repeal that will get rid of subsidies for the high cost of premiums in the individual market place and get rid of expanded Medicaid, and allow states to mismanage original medicaid without a penalty. Trump and the Republican-dominated Congress are set to reduce the EFFECTIVE tax rate on corporations to below zero and give the wealthy a personal tax cut that will likely make it into the permanent category the Republicans wanted to give it during Bush's Presidency. Tax cuts that benefit the few and pass government costs on to the many will inevitably reduce the spendable income of the many, reduce the safety net services, and/or add to the annual budget deficit, which must result in a further reduction in government services or an increase in the overall budget debt or both. Every one of these Trump voters will experience a very significant decrease in income, increase in health insurance premiums and a very limited choice of retraining options. Why don't they know these things? Please consider asking these convinced voters how they feel about these actions and policies and how they are reconciling what is being done to them with what they think is being done. I believe voters must assess candidates as though they (the voters) are the CEO of the largest company in the world, but I do NOT agree the President is a CEO. The Chief Economic Officer of a private for profit must produce profit. A public servant must produce a more perfect union. Trump is producing a profit only for a very limited group in which he and his family are prominent members, at the expense of millions and millions of citizens. What is in a citizen's pockets, purses and bank accounts is as much at risk under Trump as they were pre-2007. It is imperative these Trump supporters hold themselves and the people they put into power accountable. Being ignorant of the actions Trump takes against their interests will become apparent only after the fact, when their support systems are dead. Government without checks and balances has nothing to restrain envy, greed, corruption and incompetence, the four horsemen that are always sniffing around the corridors of power. Trump voters owe it to the rest of us to be vigilant about his exercise of the authority they have loaned to him, for it is painfully apparent to the rest of us he is not interested in any subject except himself, his family and his wealthy partners.

I think any administration looking to get us away from coal as an energy source should also put effort into helping those miners find new work. Compared to other jobs in energy, coal really doesn't provide a lot of jobs, and these other jobs in energy are much safer, both in regards to accidents and long-term effects like lung conditions.
