Trump VP hopeful Sen. J.D. Vance says immunity "has to apply to the president"

As the Supreme Court is set to rule on whether a former president is shielded from criminal immunity, potential Trump running mate Republican Sen. J.D. Vance tells "Face the Nation" that he's "very confident" that the Supreme Court will "recognize some broad element of presidential discretion." "The president has to be able to do his job in the same way that police officers, judges and prosecutors enjoy some immunity - that principle has to apply to the president."

The Supreme Court in 1982 has already held in Nixon v. Fitzgerald that presidents are immune from damages in civil suits for actions taken while in office.

Presidents should have absolute immunity. After all, how would they be able to commit crimes or international crimes for that matter. I love that I could be prosecuted for not showing up for jury duty but anyone with power(both governmental and corporate) can do whatever they like with no consequences. Sorry, but she’s just so ignorant, she doesn’t understand that Trump wasn’t lying when he officially authorized up to 10k additional Gaurd troops deployed to DC several days prior to the event. He has no authority to order them anywhere on the Capitol grounds. That was taken away from presidents hundreds of years ago. Trump was 100% correct, both Pelosi and the Mayor of DC, rejected the troops in writing.

The Arizona elector attempted to delay the certification, by objecting in writing as per the Constitution. In opening statements on Jan 6th 114 Congressmen clearly stated that The Constitutional laws of Article 2 section one were clearly not followed. It is the role of the President to assure the Constitution is followed.

AFAIK, Pres. Trump did not have authority to order Nat. Guard without request from local officials. Trump did offer Nat. Guard troops. Bowser and Pelosi declined.
